"Happy First Father's Day!" Amelia sweetly whispered as she walked into their bedroom with her son on her hip and a plate with waffles."Hmm five more minutes." Link asked in his sleepy state. Scout then started giggling which seemed to wake Link up. "You guys made me waffles!"
"I know your probably sick of them, but it's the only thing I can make." Amelia giggled as she sat next to her boyfriend in their bed.
"Waffles? Never! I only have an issue when it's all we have for dinner for 5 nights in a row." Link nudged his girlfriend playfully.
"You said you liked breakfast for dinner!" The neurosurgeon tried to be offended, but occupied as their son was pulling her hair. "So your parents are coming over."
"What?" Link questioned obviously surprised.
"They wanted to surprise you, but I have to go over to Meredith's and I didn't want you to have a heart attack if they showed up while I was gone." Amelia said as she shifted the baby into her boyfriends arms.
"Why are they coming?" Link asked slightly concerned it was very rare his parents came to visit.
"Well, it's your first Father's Day! And your dads first as a grandpa." Smirked Amelia. "Don't worry I've got everything handled the guest room is cleaned, and I'll barbecue tonight."
"No it's okay we can leave the barbecues to me." Link laughed he went in to kiss his girlfriend but her phone rang.
"Yep I'll be out in a minute." Amelia answered into the phone and stood up to leave. "I've got to go, but I'll be back. And there is something for you on the kitchen counter!"

The five of them sat around Derek's grave in silence. The kids usually asked for stories about their dad but this year no one asked, which made Amelia and Meredith confused. Until Zola spoke up.
"Andrews not our new dad right?"
"No, no one will ever replace your dad. But Andrew won't mind stepping in if you ever need him. Your dad will always be your dad." Meredith responded in a firm yet monotone way.
"Auntie Amelia what did my dad and your dad do on Father's Day?" Bailey asked. Amelia hesitated for a moment she didn't remember at first. She then remembered about how her older sisters would complain, that was the only reason she remembered the tradition.
"Well, your dad and my dad we're very outnumbered and surrounded by girls all the time. So Father's Day weekend your dad and grandpa would go upstate to go fishing. They'd get to hang out the whole weekend doing boy type things I guess. And then on Sunday and we'd all spend the day with grandpa." She smiled reminiscing their last Father's Day together, and the only one she remembered.
"Daddy fished?" Zola asked intrigued.
"The one thing your dad loved more than you kids was to fish." Meredith laughed remembering he picture of Cristina and the giant fish she caught with Derek. They sat there for another half hour with sporadic questions here and there. "Well we should get going."
"Bailey and I will meet you guys at the car." Amelia said as the girls made their way to Meredith's car. She patted her lap signaling Bailey to come sit with her. Once he was situated she pulled out her fathers watch from her pocket and put it on her nephews wrist.
"What's this?"
"This was my dads watch. My mom got it for him for Father's Day one year. Your dad was supposed to get it, by never had the chance." Guilt ate at her for that, but she wasn't going to go into it with her young nephew.
"This was grandpas?" His aunt nodded in response. He rubbed his fingers across the black fading leather then around the gold border. He jumped up from her lap and wrapped his arms around her neck. "Thank you."
"Let's go catch up with your sisters." The two then started walking back to the car.
"Can you teach me how to tell time?" Amelia erupted in laughter she hadn't even thought he wouldn't know how to use it. She then realized that they probably didn't teach that type of clock reading anymore.

Link and his father were outside in the backyard making dinner. Maureen sat at the outside table with Scout playing peek a boo.
"Nice watch, I've never seen you wear one." Eric remarked as he watched his son flip burgers. Link looked down at the watch it had a leather blue band, and had a light wood on the border of the actual watch.
"Yeah, Amelia got it for me for Fathers Day." He took the watch off the show him the engrave-meant on the back of it, 4-9-20, their sons birthday.
"That's really sweet. Where is she by the way?"
"She should be back soon, she was going to the cemetery with her sister in law and brothers kids." Eric nodded in response.
"There's my sweet boy." Amelia cooed, taking her baby from Links mother.
"There she is." Link said smiling walking over to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her, then dropped a kiss to his sons head. "Why don't we eat?"
The four sat at the outside table and talked for hours starting to get dark without anyone realizing, after awhile Maureen and Eric went up to the guest room to go to sleep.
"Thank you Amelia."
"You don't have to thank me at all. You are the one I should be thanking your the best father." She said looking down at her sleeping son. They should move him up to his crib, but the night air was so calm and she didn't want to break up theyre family moment.
"How was the cemetery?"
"You really know how to put a damper on a mood." Amelia laughed. "It was fine, I gave Bailey my dads watch. That's why I got you a watch because one Father's Day my mom got my dad a watch and I don't know maybe it was stupid." She added blushing.
"No it wasn't stupid at all this is the best gift ever, second to Scout of course. And sentimental I like it. Maybe if Scout ever becomes a father we'll get him a watch."
"You're moving awful fast there." Amelia giggled causing Link to slightly nudge her being careful of the baby. "I love you so so so much."
"As do I" Link said as he kissed her.
