"Are you ready to talk now?" Link asked after the team of doctors left from morning rounds.

"No, and there isn't really anything to talk about." Amelia responded stroking her sons head.

"Come on Amelia, you have to forgive me at some point."

"I did, didn't I?" Amelia bit back, she was not in the mood to fight with her boyfriend.

"You said you did, but you didn't mean it."

"Link, I don't have to energy to play games on what I mean and didn't mean. We can talk later."

"Except we're not going to talk later." Link scoffed under his breath.

"Fine let's talk now." Amelia started to yell but caught herself, trying not to wake their son up.

"I think we should take this somewhere else, I don't want Scout hearing us." Amelia nodded in response, and reluctantly followed him into a stairwell.

"So what did you want to talk about?" Amelia questioned growing impatient.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you. And I'm sorry for going out and getting drunk." Link said trying to catch his girlfriends eye contact.

"You understand why I signed those consent forms right?"

"Wel-" Link started before Amelia cut him off.

"If you don't understand why I consented to the surgery, your not really sorry." She stormed out of the stairway and made her way back to her sons room. She knew she had to be more clear in her communication with her boyfriend, but she didn't want to get into her feelings. She just wanted her son to get better.

It had been over a week since the failed procedure and Scouts spot on the list hadn't moved. So after some testing they determined Link's liver would be a better match. The night before the transplant would take place the couple sat in Link's car eating their dinner, they couldn't stand all the pity stares they got in the cafeteria. "Amelia, can we please have a conversation."

"We're we not just talking about the Mariners?"

"You know what I mean."

"I know."

"I don't want this to break us up. I'll be damned if we end up like my parents did when I got sick."

"Link, I promise whatever happens to us it's not going to be like what you went through. And I think we're strong enough to stay together."

"You can't say that though if your refusing to talk about what's happened."

"Link, I had to make that decision, with this diagnosis you've got to handle it quickly and you would've made the same decision if it were me who was in surgery." Amelia took a minute to compose herself then continued. "With Christopher, I had no control, or option for a treatment. So I may of jumped to the decision to do surgery quickly because of that. But even if I had waited we would've decided to do the surgery and you know that."

"Your right." Link then reached out and interlocked his girlfriends hand with his own. That was the most affection they had given one another since they found out about their sons diagnosis. "And I'm truly sorry for lashing out. I guess I just feel like I've missed out on a lot, I mean I was in surgery when he was born and I was in surgery when this happened. And you guys just have a stronger bond."

"Don't feel guilty about that, I'm sure once he's older and doesn't depend on me too much he isn't going to want anything to do with me." Amelia said while chuckling. They sat there in silence enjoying one another's company with no tension. "I'm also glad your the one who's able to give Scout a liver, and another mother doesn't have to lose their kid."

"God, I didn't even think about how your feeling about that, especially with Christopher."

"It's fine." Amelia looked over to her boyfriend and smiled. "I love you, I'm sorry that I haven't said it in awhile."

"I love you too."

Amelia found herself in a scan room looking over miscellaneous brain scans, it gave her an odd comfort and distraction. She didn't want to think about the fact that her two favorite people were in surgery. A knock on the door startled her and she abruptly turned around waiting for Meredith to give her an update.

"Everything went great, they are in recovery. It looks like it worked." Meredith smiled while she engulfed her sister in a hug, and allowed her to cry happily on her shoulder.

"Thank you Mer."

It had been over a week since the transplant and they were both doing well. Scout was doing much better and the condition was under control, they probably wouldn't have to worry about his liver until he was a teenager. Link was doing fine as well, but was starting to get restless at home on bed rest.

"I'm so relieved everything went okay. I didn't realize until after all of this but I can finally breathe." Amelia said while crawling into bed.

"Me too. I'm just so glad he's gonna he okay."

"I'm sorry for not communicating better and next time I'll be sure to speak to you before I make a decision about our son. I guess I think like I'm in this alone even though I most definitely am not ."

"Don't apologize, were both in the wrong. And your never gonna be in this alone. I'm just glad we were able to work through this. I was petrified we were going to turn out like my parents."

"I'll try my very best not to let that happen." Link smiles at his girlfriend.

"Have I every told you, you are my favorite person."

"Maybe once or twice." Amelia smirked before going into to kiss her boyfriend.
