TW// POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION AND HOPELESSNESS
"Hey,come in Meredith." Link welcomed once he opened the door. "Thanks for coming."
"Yeah, of course."
"So, Scouts schedule is on the fridge hopefully he's relatively easy."
"No worries, how's Amelia doing?"
"I don't know." Link sighed, since his conversation with Meredith last night he was afraid to go to sleep and leave Amelia alone with her thoughts. So the pair laid in silence until the sun came up.
"She's going to be fine Link." Meredith tried to reassure. Link only nodded in response, and walked into his bedroom to get his girlfriend so they could go to her appointment.
"Are you ready babe?" Link asked once he opened their door.
"Link I really don't want to go."
"You don't really have a choice." Link instantly regretted his words once it looked like his girlfriend was on the verge of tears. "I'm sorry, that sounded harsh."
"You think?" Amelia got up out of their bed and headed towards the door.
"Aren't you gonna get dressed?"
"I am dressed, since when do sweat pants and a shirt don't qualify as clothing?"

"Amelia Shepherd?" A nurse called out. Amelia got up and walked over to the nurse without saying a word to her boyfriend. She was mad at him, even though it was irrational.
Link awkwardly sat in the waiting room of the doctors office. He had debated whether or not to go in with his girlfriend, he decided on staying in the waiting room unless someone asked for him. He absentmindedly scrolled through his social media, worrying for his girlfriend. He partly blamed himself for not realizing his girlfriend was struggling, maybe he could of helped her sooner if he had realized. He was pulled out of his thoughts by a phone call. He stepped outside to answer it.
"Hey Link!" His mother's soothing voice greeted. He sighed and slid down the brick wall of the building.
"Hey mom."
"Just calling to check in. Are you okay you sound off."
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine."
"The baby okay? Is Amelia okay?"
"The baby's good, perfectly healthy. Umm, Amelia's alright."
"Really? Because from your tone, everything doesn't seem alright."
"I think Amelia has postpartum depression. We're at a therapy office right now actually."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know." Link sighed. "I don't know how I missed this."
"Well what's important is that she's getting help."
"I guess so. I just, I knew this was going to be hard on her, but I just didn't realize how much she was struggling. Why didn't I realize?"
"I'm sure it's been busy with Scout. This isn't on you Link. This isn't anyone's fault it just happens sometimes, what's important is that she's getting help."
"It just physically pains me to see her like this. I don't even know why."
"Because you love her. That's what happens, just wait until Scout scrapes his knee for the first time. That's a whole crisis in itself, but I promise it's going to be okay." Maureen tried to comfort, Link heard the door to the office open and his girlfriend walked out.
