wow 2 posts in a singular day? after writing this i realized there was a difference between a wedding ring and an engagement ring. i didn't find like rewriting it so hope you enjoy this inaccurate story!

"Do you know what type of ring you want to get mom? Why don't you just use her previous one?" Link asked as the pair walked to the jeweler which was a short walk from the hotel.

"Well I can't use her old one because that is not a good way to go into a fresh new start. I'm not really sure what type of ring, I'll know when I see it I guess." Eric responded.

"What makes you think it's going to be different this time around?" Link questioned genuinely curious. He was still skeptical over the whole situation. He really couldn't recall a time his parents seemed truly in love.

"Well first off we aren't fighting about a sick kid anymore." Eric jokingly said. "And I've always believed in second chances, I really feel like this is going to work."

"I hope it works out this time around." Link said coldly.

"What's the issue Link? I thought you would be excited about this, it's what you always wanted."

"It was...when I was a kid and I needed my parents together. I never really saw what unconditional love was. For the longest time I didn't believe in love." Link confessed

"Your right bud, it's not fair. I wish we could of come to our senses earlier. I wish I could go back and show you what love was because your right you never saw it." Eric said with guilt in his voice. "I mean having a kid is crazy all this love you have for him. I glad he showed you what love is."

"Scout obviously showed me love,
but Amelia? She is the one that really showed me love. I had never truly experienced it before and I didn't realize it until I had this patient. A guy fell out of a plane and just exploded on impact on this guys girlfriend. He barley knew her but you could tell he really loved her. He was so upset he couldn't protect her from this one in a million chance thing happening. It terrified me like I felt paralyzed. I just kept thinking what would I do if this was Amelia. This guy never got the chance to live his life to the fullest with this girl. Then I j-just realized that I had a chance and this guy didn't and I should take my chance and I shouldn't let myself be scared to let her love me and let myself love her." Link honestly said.

"I-I've never seen you this way over a girl. I mean you've always respected the women you've dated and cared for them. But this really is different isn't it?" Eric said as he opened the door to the jewelers.

"Yeah i-it really is." Link said walking into the store. The pair looked around at the rings. To Link they all looked the same, like the last time he was at the jewelers. Link was very quickly starting to lose interest, shopping was definitely one of the things he hated and didn't have the patience for. His father was also struggling to stay focused.

"Hey what about this one?" Eric suggested.

"I don't know it seems kind of sharp, you know how mom works with her hands all day she may cut herself on it." Link replied, irritated that his father didn't really know what his mother would want. "She'd want something small and cute."

"Something like that? I know she likes sliver."

"Yeah that's actually something she would like."

"Ok great! Excuse me miss? I was interested in purchasing this ring." Eric said to the lady working the counter.

"Okie dokie! I just need the size and I can put your order in. This is a pretty popular ring so I'm guessing 5 weeks maybe 4 but we've been ahead of schedule lately so I have high hopes for it to be sooner. When's the wedding?" The chirpy worker said.

"Uhh tomorrow." Eric said all the color draining from his face.

"Ooh....well. You know what, there is another jeweler across the city and they sell rings out of the box. You can probably make it if you hurry up." The worker said writing down the address and handing it to them. The two exited the store. Link was speechless, the wedding was in less than twenty four hours and he couldn't fathom how is father didn't think about this.

"Well let's go see what we can do at the other place." Eric said. "Look Link I probably should have thought about this before, but when I was a young guy you could just walk into a jeweler and buy a ring. I didn't realize you had to put an order in."

"Ok let's pick up the pace then." Link said as the pair started to jog. But by the time they had got to the other jeweler the girl suggested the store had closed.

"Crap, what am I going to do?" Eric questioned putting his hands into his face.

"Great way to start off this marriage dad."

"Thanks for making me feel better champ." Snapped Eric.

"Look let's go back to the hotel, I have an idea."

"Hey, you guys find a ring?" Amelia whispered as Link walked in.

"Umm, yeah. I just wanted to grab something for my dad." Link said as he went into the bathroom. He opened up his toiletry bag and opened his mouth guard container and saw the ring he had been carrying around for the past couple of weeks. He shoved it into his pockets and left the bathroom. "I'll be right back."

"Didn't you need to get something for you dad?" Questioned Amelia as she flipped through the medical journal she was reading.

"Umm yeah," Link said as he walked over to his suitcase and took out a random shirt. "I'll be back in a minute."

"Okie dokie."

"Here." Link handed his dad the ring as he sat next to his dad on the curb.

"What's this?" Eric questioned lifting his head from his hands and taking the ring into his hand observing it. "W-were you planning on purposing to Amelia?"

"Umm, yeah. I don't know I've been carrying it around for a couple of weeks. We're focused on Scout though, there really is no reason for us to get married and I'm terrified of marriage so I think it's best if you use it. It's gold though, mom will think you were being unique."

"Or that I've lost my mind." Laughed Eric. "I can't take it though. You got this for your girl."

"She probably would lose a ring, I mean we're surgeons. A necklace or a bracket would probably be a better fit for us."

"Your a thoughtful guy. No idea where you got that from. I'm oblivious to everything around me."

"But you raised me and I'm pretty great so you must of done something right."
