"Oh my gosh, Scout look!" Addison, his little sister pointed to a dog who was in the middle of the street roaming.
"They're tiny." Scout commented, he looked both ways before he went into the street and cautiously picked up the small dog. "They don't have a collar or tag."
"We should keep them!" Addison exclaimed clapping her hands together.
"You know what mom said, no pets."
"But why?"
"I don't know." Scout honestly confessed.
"Let's bring it home! We can keep it a secret!"
"I think moms gonna realize a dog in the house."
"Come on pleeeeeeeease?" Scout looked between his little sister and the dog.
"Fine, but if we get in trouble this is on you."

"Okay this is the plan. I'll open the gate and put the dog in the backyard. Then we'll both go inside and once moms distracted I'll go into the yard and bring the dog up to my room and you'll meet me in there and we'll make a plan." Scout said once the pair got in front of their house, and let the dog into their backyard. "Don't mention anything to mom or dad."
"Ok, I won't." Addison promised once the pair walked into the house.
"Hey mom." Scout said nervously, he was never good at hiding things from his mother.
"Hey scout." She reciprocated in the same tone, slightly confused to as to why her son seemed nervous. "Everything okay?"
"Yep everything is great!" The third grader said an octave higher than his usual voice.
"How are you, Addie?" She asked her daughter, still confused at her sons behavior.
"Oh I'm doing great!" Addison cheerfully said wincing once Scout nudged her with his elbow. He already had their mother suspicious, they didn't need her adding to their mothers suspicions.
"Ok, well we need to go do our homework right Addie?" Scout asked his sister.
"I don't get homework I'm only in kindergarten." Scout sighed and pushed his sister along leaving behind a very confused Amelia.

"Addison, we have to keep this more on the down low. Moms already suspicious. Now just stay up here, I'm gonna go out back and bring the dog up here." Addison nodded in agreement. Scout ran down the stairs, and looked to see his mother in her study engrossed with the computer. He quietly opened the sliding glass door, and the dog quickly ran to him. He quickly picked up the dog and ran up the stairs slamming the door behind him.
"What are we gonna feed him?" Addison asked as she pet the dog.
"Umm, I think we're having chicken tonight. Dogs can eat chicken right?"
"I dunno. I know nothing about dogs." Addison honestly answered.
"Okay, umm. Water!" Scout exclaimed. "I know he can have water."
"I'll go get it." Addison offered jumping up from her seated position on the floor. She skipped down the stairs and made her way into the kitchen. She pushed one of the chairs up against the counter so she could climb up to reach the bowls.
"Watcha doing?" Her mother asked with her arms crossed against her chest.
"Getting some water"
"With a bowl?" She asked gesturing to the bowl in her daughters hand.
