[Sunday]
[Inner's POV]
It's four in the morning. Still waiting for a text from Thanksgiven to say he's home safe from the club. His mom and I usually pray for his safe return. He hasn't texted me and with all the bits and pieces of sleep I gotten thus far, I'm in no shape to serve diligently.
Don't get me wrong because it's not by might, nor by power but by His spirit within me that I serve in the house, but it's definitely up to me to protect His unction within me. It's God's to give, but mine to manage.
"Lord, please guard him and keep him safe. Your word says: 'You despise sin, but love sinners'. Father, I pray that You guard him until he's safe, back at home. You never leave nor forsake us. You watch our every move. In the Mighty Name of Jesus, amen."
After praying for him and seeing it's almost somewhat a little bright outside since it's now half past four, I decided to rest because I only have an hour and a half before I wake up to prepare for church.
In this nation
Awakening
Holy Spirit
We desire
Awakening
For You and You alone
Awake my soul
Awake my soul and sing
My six o'clock alarm goes off.. I reach for my phone under the pillows to switch my alarm off. I immediately go to WhatsApp to see if any text has made it's way to me, but nothing. I quickly scold myself for breaking my principles over him.
I mean, first thing you do when you wake up, you thank God for grace, willingly so I might add. It's not a must, but I choose to. Before going on any social media and even greeting myself in the mirror, or greeting my parents. The only thing I do before prayer in the morning, is look at the clock and that is after I open my eyes, which alone is unmerited favour.
I dreadfully pray as I feel that I've made God second best. We're not condemned but I'm still human. Guilt still whispers to me on how I woke up this morning. Dismissing the 'feeling' I look at the clock, it's now quarter past six (06:15). I look at myself in the mirror and I smile saying: "Good morning beautiful daughter of the Most High God, it's Sunday." Yeah call it pep talk alright, but I do so because who wouldn't? I mean being awake screams misery for the devil especially by starting off your day in prayer, so why not thrive in being the best version of myself?
I go about the house preparing for church. After a good hour and fifteen minutes of preparation filled with my dad scolding and shooing me away from the mirror to go eat breakfast I'm done. I go to the kitchen, take out the instant porridge to eat and a banana.
It's now quarter to eight (07:45) I leave my house as church is fifteen minutes away and walking in heels doesn't make it any less. Church starts at half past eight (08:30). I get there, prepare for the service, I personally enjoy working in the bathrooms as a deaconess. I believe that a person will receive their salvation in one, not everyone but someone will. Which is why I love cleaning them.
Eventually people start arriving, church starts with praise and worship. To be honest, I'm a lunatic during praise, an emotional wreck during Worship but I love it. I can't imagine myself not being all bipolar with God. I'd rather be a praising lunatic and an emotional worshipper than to be ecstatic and depressed before anyone, not even my boyfriend.
Praise is our way of expressing our love to God. Joyfully exclaiming all He's done and being thankful for that. Worship is our way of hearing God's response to our praise. He inhabits the praises of His people. Praise and worship is a dialogue. The melodious version of prayer, as I call it. I'm sitting at the church entrance as it's where I serve today.
[Third person's POV]
The sermon starts and the title is true love and compromises. Inner thinks to herself that, couldn't the title be any relevant than this?.. Slight movements on the outside corridor take Inner out of her thoughts as she has to stand and usher the people in.
