How God Called It [Being Edited And ON HOLD]

It's a "Do you, I do me" Thing.

[Third Person's POV]

With the festive season at it's peak, hearts will be broken, people will lose their loved ones (Funerals), others will gain them forever (Weddings).. Other couples are moving houses, girls will fall pregnant, parties and booze would be in their peak. All in all, it's a "Do you, I do me" thing. Inner thought to herself as she always wondered why people would be reckless with their lives over a month in a season. Inner thought and wondered what this month meant for her and her boyfriend.

After that night, she's felt incomprehensible peace. The one that God promises in His Word. The "It is well with me peace" (Philippians 4:7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus).

She passed grade eleven for starters, next year she would be in Matric. She would soon be heavily focused on her school work (if we excuse the fact that she's already a book worm). She had to get her priorities straight. Yes, she loved Tee more than anything but still, she reminded herself of "that world" where she was the Queen and the ruler of her kingdom.

Since it's still the festive season, churches gather quite frequently for night vigils, Christmas day celebrations, crossover night etc. But on 16th of December she was invited by her boyfriend's sister (Second child of the four) to hang out with her and friends. Inner hesitantly accepted the chill out invitation so she didn't seem rude. Moreover, the thought of her being the only one who doesn't drink alcohol around a circumference of people who drink, did really help her in deciding to go. (Note the sarcasm).

She told her boyfie that she would only go if he was there. Her boyfriend had other plans obviously, but thought about it and finally agreed. Although Inner is a night owl (study and productivity wise) she was very much both an early bird and noon's sunrays. She didn't like going out at night or being away from home late. So she promised her boyfriend that when it was noon, she'd go home and let him go out at night as was expected of him.

She spent the day with the people and her boyfriend at the park. He walked her home around four o'clock (16:00) and left to prepare for the night. Inner was beyond happy and pushed those December thoughts away. She suddenly she felt that this was her little haven.

Tee's mom invited Inner to a church service the following Friday. She happily obliged also because there was nothing happening at her church. Friday came, she happily went to her boyfriend's house. He drove Inner, his mom and his sister (The third child of the four). He was not very happy as it's December, it's a Friday and he had to be at church.

The service began, people sang, danced and worshipped. Inner was beyond being over the moon, as this was where she loved to be the most. She couldn't help but notice her boyfriend's mom look at her with so much care, love and pride. She looked at her as if Inner herself was her very own last born.

She understood that she loved her for many reasons, God-loving being one of them, but she couldn't help but feel anxious. 'What if her son decided to leave me and then what will she do? I mean she can't invest so much in me because I'm the one feeling the pain in this relationship. I can only keep it together for so long.' Inner thought to herself but quickly dismissed the thoughts away.

She tuned in to the sermon, which was more about success and blessing. There were choruses of yeses and amen's in the church every now and then. Inner couldn't help but wonder if the sermon was about rebuke, what were people's responses going to be. But then again, it's the festive season. So why not be happy and all merry.. Right? Well, her merry self and thoughts came to an abrupt end when she realized that her boyfriend Thanksgiven went MIA.

She started panicking, 'was he at a club, did he go meet with one of those girls he was flirting with upon their arrival? OMG😱 really? Was he out just smoking?' She thought to herself. 'But why would he smoke after that unpleasant visit to the hospital?'. Yeah, Thanksgiven had been admitted to a hospital because of his use of cigarettes. The doctors urged him to slow down. 'If he was depressed or whatever.. I would feel sorry for him. But he's doing it to get girl's attention and guys applause, so I'm mad at him'. Inner continued thinking.

The service came to and end and Inner was then panicking even more. Like she's the reason Thanksgiven went AWOL. She was merely concerned for her boyfriend's mom more than anyone else. Like, what would she think, how would she react.. Most importantly, how will her heart respond to this?. They walked to the car, the driver however was not there. They waited and waited. They soon started calling Thanksgiven and he gave them the excuse or rather reason of the century "I'm on my way." You know when a person says: I'm five minutes away, only for them not to have departed from where they currently are? Yeah. That reason.

They waited even more. While waiting in the cold air. Thanksgiven's mom asked Inner what happened to her manners.. If she did not like her present she should've just said so. Now, Inner was confused. What present? Christmas was the day after the following one. She couldn't help but direct the 'What present' question at Tee's mom. Thanksgiven's mom explained that he came and asked for money for her birthday present. So, being the girl Inner is, it was awkward that she wouldn't even say thank you.

Inner was astonished at this information. To say she wasn't hurt, was equally saying she herself was hulk, a big fat lie. She, however smiled with tears threatening to fall but she blinked them away. She couldn't bring herself to lie to her boyfriend's mom. Just as she was about to tell her, boyfie appeared. Saving her the pain, Tee's mom the heart break and the possible drama that would unfold due to confrontation. They all got in the car. Inner was dropped off at her home first. The rest was history.

[Inner's POV]

I went inside the house, greeted my mom as dad was already in bed, then went to my room. I went back to the sitting room and told mom all about church. Not being able to keep my excitement at bay. It was like reliving the service again. Mom was both happy and tired. Happy to hear my experience, tired cause she waited for me. She then said good night and went to her bedroom.

I felt my heart ache, as I remembered what boyfie's mom said. I was beyond hurt. But I kept it to myself. Meanwhile, Thanksgiven had kept on with random girls' pictures both on his socials and on his phone. What really broke my heart was seeing a text on his phone, where he was caught either being intimate with a girl or in the process of doing the deed. And that, was by the girl's parents. Yeah. Lucky me, right?

Throughout December, we saw each other less, he cheated and partied more. I wished I could have said, I couldn't care less, but it wasn't the case. However, I couldn't have cared less. I had God's peace within me. How was it still there, I couldn't exactly tell. But with my love life, it was a "Do you, I do me" thing.
