[Inner's POV]

It's been two weeks since the Sunday that I asked Reign to be my spiritual partner. Making it early May now. We've been texting, calling.. Well. He's the one who calls mostly. I only call when I ask him something which hardly ever happens. My bestie is all ears on what's happening. Dinny is there too. Sass on the other hand is somewhat happy for me, but heartbroken that Thanksgiven lost me for good. Not like Reign and I are an item. But she says, well.. All three say I'm in love with this guy but him and I both know we're not.

As for Thanksgiven, I'm still hurt that he hasn't reached out to me yet. But then, I can't run after him. Besides, I have far more important things to attend to in my priorities list. God being the main. The academics then the rest. He's not even in top three nor five. So.. It is what it is. I'm currently at school and during break time we're going to talk about Reign. Well he's on the menu cause bestie insists on talking about him. It's not like we're together or anything. But we're girlfriends and we even talk about minor things.

The bell rings and I know it's gossip time. Oh my God.. Gossip.. Like really? 😂😂😂. Yeah. It is what it is.
Happiness and I are currently seated on our school benches. She points me to this hot guy from school. He's a church goer, has brown eyes of which I'm obsessed about. He's light skinned, haircuts are always on point, Your typical Justin Timberlake kind.. He's just hot. And yeah.. He's making his way to us.

Me: "Friend, keep it cool." I say to Happiness.
Happy: "Girl.. Can't you see I'm trying?" She says blushing.
Me: "Gosh🤦🏼 I hope I'm not like you right now. With the blushes and all that." I say to her so she can realise this.
Happy: "Friend stop. Anyway, tell me about Reign." She says changing the topic.
Me: "Girl, you know Hope is on his way to us. You want me to talk about Reign. I'm definitely going to blush. I don't wanna blush right now." I say. But my friend looks shook.. As if she starring at Chucky.
Hope: "Blush.. Blush about who?.. Blush for who?" someone behind me asks in a.. Gentleman voice.
Me: "😳🤦🏼.. Happy!" I yell at her for not saying I should keep quiet. I turn around and I meet with none other that hope. Pink plump lips, brown eyes, English note, allota eye brows.. He's a work of art. "Oh hi Hope" I say.

Happy: "Well, I better leave you guys to it then." She says as she stands up. Only to be shoved down by me for her to sit down. I'm not being alone throughout all of this.
Me: "You're not going anywhere friend, you're saying right here." I say to her glaring.
Hope: "You can stay, I won't be long. Don't wanna upset Inner hey." He says winking at me. I roll my eyes. Doesn't he know that you only wink to your spouse? Geez.
Happy: "Friend I'm going to get lunch since I'm gonna be here with you." This time, she says getting up and running away successfully.
Me: Great. Just great. "Well Hope, since my friend ran away.. You have five minutes." I say to him.
Hope: "Yes Ms President. I know you're a very busy woman. I'm actually here to ask you to be my partner for our farewell." He says and I'm supressing a laugh.

Me: "Ahem. Well.. Yeah. About that, sorry. I already have a partner." I say like it's nothing that he just asked.
Hope: "OK. Uhh.. Since when if you don't mind me asking?" he asks putting a hand in his pocket. Why!!?
Me: "Since grade eleven. And I'm the one who asked him. So yeah." I had to make it clear since he wouldn't be the first one to ask my date to drop me so I could go with him. Typical high school boys, urgh.
Hope: "Well.. Looks like my time is up. Happiness is here. And thanks Inner." He says leaving us but not before winking at me. I roll my eyes AGAIN.
Happy: "Girl.. You're popular in demand. What did he want?" She asked all lit up like a child in a candy store.
Me: "Urgh you know. Farewell partners and all that. But I've already told him about Brandon." I say.
Happy: "You told him you're going with Brandon? 😳.. Girrl.. You've got three guys wanting to ask you out and I'm here.. Don't even have a partner nor a potential. Life's great really." she says.

Me: "Babe, I told him I have a partner, not who. Besides, I don't want Brandon to dump me all cause guys annoy him with me." I say taking a sandwich from the lunchbox.
Happy: "You say that like y'all dating. Wait! 😳 Are y'all an item?" She asks looking shocked as if she lost breath for a minute. Then she seems to be deep in thoughts.
Me: I laugh at her. Knowing exactly what she's thinking. "Friend no. First of all: Just because they call Brandon Mr Pres (short for president) doesn't mean we're really together. Secondly, I don't date anymore. I'd rather courtship. Third and lastly, I'm not even looking for a boyfriend. I want a husband." I say seriously.
Happy:" Yasss babe. Courtship like what you have with Reign right? 😂😂🤭.. Ok. I'm playing but yeah.. You have him." She says wiggling her eyebrows."Speaking of him, we haven't even talked about you two TOGETHERRR" She says, rolling the last part of the word in her thoughts. I just roll my eyes.

Me: "Besides that he walks me back home on Saturdays after school and Sundays after church, calls me for an hour minimum daily, sends me daily verses every morning, meditation verse every night, word of the week.. We're okay love. Nothing much really." I say nonchalantly.
Happy: "Yeah right. You mean he carries both your school bag and church one. He sends you airtime daily for "school work", he texts you every ten minutes, he calls you Princess. He says you're beautiful, calls you every night around nine o'clock, your calls last until ten o'clock.. Besides that you're okay?" she asks as if she's just cracked a CIA case.
Me: "That's it. I'm putting a password on my phone from now on." I'm embarrassed and mad at this point.
Happy: "Busted. Y'all have a thing going on. Or, At Least something is cooking right now. Thank me later. Friend it's class time. The siren won't go off.. We have loadshedding." She says as we both head to class. Just in time for the hand bell to ring.

[Thanksgiven's POV]

Man. I never thought that I'd be this vulnerable really. I mean everywhere I go, all the guys are hesitant about asking Inner to be their farewell partner. I mean, I know she has one and it alone breaks me. But for guys to be even betting on who she'll take and be betting on who has a pair to actually ask her.. I can't bear it. Honestly.. I cannot. I want her back. I can't go on without her.

Seeing her interact with Hope earlier on, it shattered my heart. I mean.. Why did Happiness leave when Hope arrived? Why did they have to talk in private and why did he keep a smug look on his face, smiles and smirks.. He even winked twice at her. At first, I saw Inner freeze once she realized his presence. She used to to tell me that it's because she had butterflies in her stomach and goosebumps. I still don't understand how that happens or what it means.. But I know very well that it's when she has feelings for someone.

Seeing her like that with another guy.. Doesn't sit well with me at all. I've got to get her back. I must. I still love her. She's my girl.. Mine. Not those guy's. I'm going to approach her first thing on Monday. I've got to get her back. Honestly. These girls ain't doing it for me. But Inner too denies me the only one thing I need from her. If she engages in that with me, I'll never leave her or cheat. Never. I must get her back. I just hope what I saw between her and Hope today isn't what it looked like. I just hope.
