"Aiden!" I shout as I am now running after him, forcing my way through all the drunk teenagers in the house. How could I have been stupid enough to believe that Aiden wouldn't find out? I call out his name again in hope that he'd stop his tracks and turn around to say that everything is okay, but he continues to storm out of the house.
"Aiden, please." I say as we are now outside on his porch. The sunny weather has now changed to a cold breeze, and my hair lightly blows in the wind. I shudder and feel a slight relief as Aiden turns around to face me.
"Did you sleep with him?" He asks. His voice was harsh. I could see his eyes start to water, and I looked away. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt him, but I know now how much of a mistake I've made.
"Aiden-"
"Did you?" He interrupts. I don't have anything to say, there's no excuse for what I have done.
"It didn't mean anything." I answer, and Aiden lets out a loud sigh and closes his eyes. The look of disappointment and betrayal on his face is evident, and I am ridden with guilt. A few moments pass and Aiden doesn't say a word.
"I thought you said he was new." He says gently, and looks up at me.
"He-"
"When did this happen?" He interrupts again, his voice getting louder. It seems as though his mood has switched from sad, to anger, and I know he has every right.
"Three days ago." I mutter, and saying those words out loud made me realize how much of an idiot I have been. I hooked up with Mason for what? Just because I was drunk and had nothing better to do? All semester I have been texting, calling, and facetiming Aiden, counting the days when he'd return. And now he has and I ruin my chances with him just because I was bored?
"I'm so sorry," I begin, and step forward to get closer to him, but he steps back. "It was just a drunken mistake."
"Wait," His eyes blink rapidly, "You were drunk? He got you drunk and then-" Aiden begins stepping forward, as his voice goes from a mutter to a shout.
"No, no," I say, my hands colliding with his chest as I get in his way of storming into the house and attacking Mason. I know that me being drunk deffidently made the sex easier to have for the both of us, but this was all me. It was my decision.
"I did this. We were at a party and things got out of hand-"
"Let me get this straight. You get drunk at a party, hook up with some guy you barely know, and then bring him to my party three days later? What, so you guys could laugh at me?" He accuses.
"No-"
"You know right now... I don't even recognize you." He said the words I was always afraid of him saying, and I can feel the tears start to stream down my cheeks. At this moment, I don't even recognize myself.
But honestly, I hate the fact of how he's making me seem. I never cheated on him, I know that doesn't help the situation but we were never official.
"We were broken up." I say, my voice raising.
"You mean we are," he says, and I look at him, not sure what he's trying to say.
"Aiden, please, it didn't mean anything, you have to believe me." I know now that I am begging, but at this moment I don't care. Aiden is the only person in this world I have ever truly loved, and I won't let him end things so easily. My cheeks are soaked in tears and I wipe my eyes quickly.
"Believe you?" He scoffs, "why would I believe anything you say?" I have nothing to say to his question, he's right, why would he believe me after all that I have done? He looks past me for a moment, before bringing his eyes back to mine.
"You should go, and bring your boyfriend to while you're at it. We're done here." He finishes, and walks past me, back into the house.
What have I done?
