I ring the doorbell to Jessica's house, and place the mask on. I'm pretty impressed with how the look turned out. I even curled the ends of my hair, and put on makeup. Usually I never go all out for things like this, but tonight I had to make a good impression. I impatiently rang the doorbell again and wondered what's taking so long. Normally I would just walk in, but I should get out of the habit of that.
"I fucking heard you! Give me a second." I hear from inside. Oh boy.
I get ready to put on a fake smile, and take a deep breath since I am fully aware of who is going to open the door. The door swings open and Mason leans his body against the door frame, eyeing me up and down.
"And you are?" He asks, lips curving into a smile. His words make me want to gag but I resist the urge. Mason trying to flirt is not a good way to start the night.
"Not interested." I say, taking off the mask and pushing past him to get inside.
"Well, well, well, look who decided to dress up. Let me guess, some boy you want to impress?" He asks as I turn around to face him.
I notice his hair is wet, he must have just gotten out of the shower. The grey sweatpants and white tee must be his pajamas, which means he's not coming tonight. I feel relieved over the thought, now I know he's not going to be the one to screw this up.
"Why would you think I just got dressed to impress a guy?" I ask, crossing my arms. Even though I did want Aiden to see me dressed up tonight, Mason didn't need to know that.
"So you're telling me you didn't get all dressed up to impress that square whose heart you broke at the party? Ah, what was his name?" He took a dramatic moment to pause, and think to himself for a few seconds and I rolled my eyes at his childish behavior.
He takes a step towards me and I straighten my back, not letting him get to me. I know he's trying to intimidate me and it's not going to work. I can't let him get under my skin- I can't let him win.
"Aiden, is it?" He finishes. His eyes stare into mine and I don't look away. I can tell he's enjoying himself, he loves how he makes me angry. He is standing so close to me I can faintly smell the mint of his breath. His body is towering over me, but I still manage to make myself seem unfazed.
"Is this how you treat your friends? Belittle them while you make false accusations?" He doesn't say a word so I continue. "Where's Sofia? Is she getting bored of you already?" He chuckles at my words.
"Bored huh? Is that how you felt during our time in the garage?" My body stiffens at his words, we both haven't mentioned that night since it happened. Even though it occured only a few days ago, it feels like so much time has passed since then.
"Admit it, you enjoyed it." I feel his eyes piercing into mine, my heart starts to beat rapidly as my eyes stay glued to his, our bodies only inches apart.
"Just as much as I did." He finishes.
What did he just say? Did he just say he enjoyed it? I can't find any words to ask him to repeat himself because I'm confused about what is actually happening. I open my mouth to speak but nothing comes out.
"Elle?" I hear from behind me and turn around to see Jessica dressed in a tight black dress that reaches a few inches above her knees with black stiletto heels. Her gold mask is secured in her hand along with her lip gloss and phone. She seemed to be in a rush and I was glad.
"Are you ready to go?" She asks me.
"Yes," I say firmly. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I open the front door and wait outside as Jessica says her goodbyes to Mason, before we head off to the party.
