HANNAH HAD PULLED JASMINE along to potions, dragging her into Snapes classroom, not wanting to be late and face Snape's wrath. They got into the classroom, and went to sit down together, like many other students thought they would be able to sit next to their friends this year.

"If you thought I would let you choose your seats this year, you are very mistaken" Snape bluntly stated as he walked into the classroom, this caused Jasmine and Hannah to share a look of dread that they'd be separated.

"Female Nott, next to Malfoy, male Nott, next to Greengrass..." Snape began listing off the seating plan for the year.

Jasmine stood up and carefully moved over to sit next to Draco. She sat down, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

"these seats are not up for discussion, they will be for the whole year. Now hurry up, do I look like a patient individual?" Snape asked as students continued to their assigned seats.

"Hey" Jasmine said, giving Draco a small smile, "hey" he simply replied, not really applying any emotion to the word.

Snape rambled on about the potion we were going to be making and how to make it. Jasmine found it very boring. Jasmine knew she was skilled in potions, but she didn't exactly enjoy it.

She and Draco began making the potion, Draco largely following Jasmines lead. She didn't know why he was though, she knew Draco was very smart and knew what he was doing with potions.

Few words were spoken between the two, but it wasn't awkward or uncomfortable.

Snape came over to the table to examine the work that they had been doing.

"very good Nott, Malfoy. Maybe I should've seated you both together last year. I trust you both are planning on taking potions for your N.E.W.T.S next year?" Snape asked the two, both of them nodding. "yes professor" the two spoke in unison.

As he walked away, Jasmine felt a pressure lift from her, she was terrified of him, even if he did favour her because of her last name.

She let out a scared breath as they poured the potion into the vial signing their names on the top for grading.

"I don't know why you're so afraid of him, you're fully aware you're literally the only Hufflepuff he likes" Draco sniggered, holding in a laugh at the girl.

Jasmine's heart always beat quicker when she and Draco conversed, although she never understood it, she learnt to ignore it.

"he only likes me for my last name though" Jasmine retorted as they began packing away.

"and the fact that you've been acing potions since first year" Draco added, he was being nice to her. She liked it.

"yeah okay, but so have you" Jasmine added, waiting for class to be dismissed.
