UPON WALKING INTO THE common room, she didn't see her friends, so assumed they were in their dormitories and so walked straight towards hers. She opened the door, immediately loosening her tie and finding her friends sat on their beds.

"What did McLaggen want, Jas?" Hannah asked as Jasmine threw herself onto her bed, letting out a small groan.

"He asked me out on a date, practically pinned me up against the wall and wouldn't take no for an answer" Jasmine whined about the wretched boy. Sure he was attractive but he had no manners at all and it was revolting.

"oh shit, how'd you get out of that one?" Megan asked as Jasmine sat up, crossing her legs on the bed and Loki climbing onto her lap, purring as she did so.

"Draco, Blaise and Goyle threatened to hex him if he touched me again" Jasmine replied taking the time to make some fuss over her cat.

"Who exactly threatened to hex him?" Susan asked, a knowing smirk on her face. Jasmine rolled her eyes.

"Draco, but only because of Theo. Its not like that" Jasmine retorted, sticking her tongue out at her friend.

"Jas seriously, do you not see the way he looks at you?" Hannah asked, moving to face her. Hannahs bed was opposite Jasmines so they could see each other properly.

"No? he doesn't look at me like anything?" Jasmine replied, clearly looking very confused.

"How can you be so smart, yet so dim at the same time?" Hannah asked, Megan and Susan sniggering at what she had said.

"he doesn't like me, not like that anyway" Jasmine replied, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at Hannah. "one day you'll wake up, I swear" Hannah laughed at the girl, throwing the pillow back.

"shut up. Can we go and eat now, I'm hungry" Jasmine smiled at her best friend, placing Loki on the pillow that had just been thrown at her and standing up, grabbing Hannahs hand and pulling her off the bed.

They went to the great hall, sitting in their usual places and chit chatting like they normally do. Except this time, Jasmine did notice Draco staring at her. Her blue eyes met his icy ones, and she expected him to look away, except he didn't, he stayed staring at her.

She gave him a small smile and then diverted her attention back to her friends.

"now that, was some intense eye contact" Hannah whispered to Jasmine, causing Jasmines cheeks to flush pink. "shut up, it was nothing" Jasmine laughed at her friend.

They finished dinner fairly quickly and made their way back to the common room, as Jasmine was about to crawl into the common room after her friends, she heard Theo's voice calling after her.

"Here we go" Jasmine muttered and stood back up to face her brother.

"Hey" Jasmine smiled up at her brother, who was obscenely taller than her.

"Malfoy told me about McLaggen. I'll kill him if he hurt you" Theo said, and was quite obviously ready to go and rip his head off.

"I'm fine, Draco and the others got there just in time, and did all the threatening he needed I think" Jasmine replied, crossing her arms over her chest.

"If I see him, he'll be getting a conversation with me" Theo said, standing tall. "Just, don't get in trouble, especially because Umbridge knows dad" Theo rolled his eyes at her, "yeah, yeah whatever." He replied, pulling her in to hug him.

"things are definitely changing aren't they?" Jasmine asked as she cuddled her brother, "I think so Jas, we'll be alright though" Theo told her, squeezing her a little tighter. "Promise?" Jasmine asked, clearly she was a lot more worried about this than she let on. "I promise, Jazzy" Theo said, causing Jasmine to grunt, "don't call me that" She angrily said, pulling away from him.

Theo laughed at his sister and began walking back to the Slytherin common room, "see you tomorrow" He shouted after her, she shook her head and walked into her common room, ready for a decent nights sleep.

The next morning at breakfast, Jasmine got a reply from her father, an owl dropping the letter in front of her, Jasmine squealed in delight and stood up to go and open the letter with Theo.

"I'll be right back" Jasmine told her friends and practically bounded over to the Slytherin table. "we got a letter"Jasmine said as she approached the table, a big smile on her face. "Well sit down then" Theo said, making space for her to sit in between him and Daphne, with Draco directly across from her.

Jasmine opened the letter and placed it in front of them both so they could read it at the same time, the letter read

Jasmine and Theo,

I am well, and glad to hear that the year has gotten off to a good start. Yes Delores is quite the character. I trust you are staying on her good side? She is very important in the ministry and so I need you both to set a good example for our family. I'm glad to hear our summer lessons have come in handy.

You will both be coming home for Christmas, we have a ball to attend at Malfoy Manor on Christmas Eve.

It's good to hear you're both studying hard for your O.W.Ls, I expect nothing less.

"Well, that was boring" Theo stated and Jasmine nudged him with her elbow.

"I didn't know there was a ball, did you?" Jasmine asked Theo, who shook his head no. "Draco, did you know that you're hosting a ball on Christmas Eve?" Theo asked Draco, who shook his head, "well now I do, they never tell me anything" Draco replied with an eye roll.

Jasmine stayed and made conversation with her friends in Slytherin for a while, Daphne telling her all about a date she went on before coming back to school before they decided it was time to walk to their lessons.

She walked to Defence Against the Dark Arts with Theo, Draco, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle. She noticed the stares she got from first years. Those that didn't know her last name were very confused at the fact that there was a Hufflepuff that sat with and walked to class with Slytherins. Jasmine mainly ignored the stares and whispers, but a lot of the time they made her feel very uncomfortable.

Jasmine took her seat in Defence against the Dark Arts next to Hannah and got her book out. Harry hadn't had anymore outbursts at Umbridge which meant that classes were fairly calm.

Although she had heard from others that her punishments were very severe for students who didn't follow Umbridge's rules, and it had only been 3 days.

She had heard all about the detentions that people were getting, coming out with scars on theirs hands, some first years crying as they came out of her office.

All Jasmine knew was that Umbridge was not at Hogwarts with the right intentions.
