ANOTHER 2 MONTHS HAD PASSED AT HOGWARTS and the snow was sticking to the ground in a thick layer. Things were very different now.
Umbridge had quite literally gone absolutely insane, she was making rules left right and centre. It was awful. Hogwarts no longer had a happy vibe, and it was completely dull.
Umbridge had completely banned extracurricular groups, and had created one of her own, called the Inquisitorial squad, it was basically a group to spy on other students and what they were doing. Theo, Draco and the majority of Slytherin had joined it with the lure of extra credit and the hope they could get Harry Potter in trouble.
Harry Potter had also formed a group known as Dumbledores Army or DA. Jasmine had been asked to join, along with her friends but had to refuse. It wouldn't have been fair to any of them to have one of the inquisitorial squads members sister. Also, with her fathers lessons, she had no real need of it.
Ginny Weasley had also made it known that Jasmine wasn't welcome, despite most people reassuring the girl that Jasmine wasn't a threat to them. Hannah had gotten extremely protective over her friend that day, Jasmine cringed at the memory.
They sat in the Hog's Head as Harry, Ron and Hermione addressed the group, full of Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, but no Slytherins about Dumbledores army.
"Well surely she can't be trusted" Ginny piped up, pointing at Jasmine. Jasmine's cheeks flushed pink, not enjoying the attention on her.
"She wouldn't have been invited here if she wasn't trusted" Megan piped up first, jumping to Jasmine's defence.
"Her last name and brother say otherwise"
Jasmine wasn't quite sure why Ginny had it out for her at present, but wasn't willing to dwell on it.
"Its fine, I can leave" Jasmine said softly, moving to stand up and leave. Hannah pulled her back down harshly. "Jasmine wouldn't rat anyone out. I don't know what you've got against her, but get over yourself." Hannah spoke to Ginny, Harry Potters eyes remaining on Jasmine.
"She's right. I could put you all at risk of being caught if my brother found out I was sneaking around. It's safer if I don't join." Jasmine added, looking to her friends with pleading eyes to get them to back down.
"I won't tell anyone though, I'm not a snitch" Jasmine looked to Ginny this time.
"I just don't think its fair that just because of your last name, you apparently can't be trusted" Hannah piped up again, giving Ginny a dirty look.
"Please, Han. It's fine" Jasmine told the girl, who did back down when she saw her best friends pleading eyes.
She also couldn't afford to get on Umbridge's bad side, not with her place in the ministry, she couldn't have her father have a daughter that's a Hufflepuff and an embarrassment.
