Charlie's P.O.V.
When I get home, there's yelling coming from inside. I throw my bag down and rush into the house.
"What is going on?" I yell.
The man steps from behind the wall, making me freeze in my tracks. Mom stands looking sad. My father.
"Hello Darling!" He says.
I take a deep breath, "What're you doing here?"
"Just picking up my money." He says with a fake smile.
"Just take it." My mom breathes.
He walks around the house and plops onto the couch. It's silent as he watches TV.
"How was school?" Mom asks.
"You can't just pretend." I whisper.
"Let it be." She says sadly.
I shake my head while heading toward the stairs. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I answer.
"Hello?" I ask
"Hey, are you free?" Cole's voice asks.
"No." I say, "It's not a great time." I take a glance back at the man on the couch.
"It never is." He sighs.
"Cole... listen to me." I say, "Not. Right. Now."
He hangs up, leaving a beeping sound in my ear. I rush into my room and close my door, locking it.
Why is did he have to come today?
Today is already confusing.
My phone pings on my bed.
Cat - Are you okay?
Me - Fine.
Madi - What's going on?
Me - Don't come here.
Cat - Why?
Madi - Just let us help.
Me - Stop!
Me - My "dad" is here.
Cat - I'm sorry.
Madi - We love you.
Me - Bye.
I shove my face into my bed and close my eyes.
I get woken up by yelling down stairs. I get up fast, and rush down to see what's happening.
"Who's the boy sweety?" He asks.
I furrow my eye brows, wondering what he's talking about. Walking over to the window, I open the curtain.
Cole's car sits on the side, making me groan.
Ugh.
"Is he you'r boyfriend?" He asks.
"No." I sigh.
"Good." He laughs, "I hope he uses you."
I grit my teeth, these days were the worst.
"You're a worthless bitch." He says, " Go get you'r money."
"Stop!" I yell.
His laughs fill my ears as he stands, his figure towers in front of me.
"Shut your mouth." He spits, "That's no way to talk to your father."
"You're not my father!" I yell, "I don't have one!"
Anger fills his eyes and he reaches out and grabs onto my neck. I struggle to breath as he holds me tighter.
"You're just a hoe." He whispers harshly, "He'll be leaving in no time."
He lets me go and I drop the ground while gasping for air. Tears fill my eyes, knowing Cole's out there. I stand tall and stare at the horrible human being that sits on my couch.
"You know what!?" I yell, "You're right!"
He looks over to me, "You're right!"
"Cole will use me, but at least he didn't leave when I need him most!" I yell, letting my tears stream, "You're horrible, but he'll stay for a little before going."
I turn to rush out the door but Cole stands on the porch with wide eyes.
I open my mouth to speak but he stops me, "Don't."
He turns to walk away, "Cole." I whine. Just great.
