The dementors brought in the still pudgy and whimpering man into the court room. One of the dementors started towards Sirius. But before anyone could get their wands out, Harry had already pulled out his and cast a corporeal patronus.
The dementor cowered away and took its place near Pettigrew. Amelia Bones signalled him to stop casting once she cast hers. "That was quite a patronus Mr. Potter. When did you learn to cast it?" she asked. "I learnt it during the Autumn term Madame Bones. Remus here was the one who taught me." He replied politely.
She nodded at that and turned back to Pettigrew. "Administer the Veritaserum." She ordered. Once done, the questioning started.
"Are you Peter Randall Pettigrew?"
"Yes"
"Were you the secret keeper for the Potters' safe house as of 31st October, 1981?"
"Yes"
"Did you give their location away to You-Know-Who?"
"Yes"
"Were you the one who blasted a street filled with muggles that killed 12 of them?"
"Yes"
"Are you an illegal animagus?"
"Yes"
"How were you staying all these years?"
"I was hiding with a pureblood family all these years so that I could wait for the right moment to revive my master."
"Are you telling me that You-Know-Who is still alive?"
"Yes"
"Give him the antidote." She ordered.
The Wizengamot quickly discussed and delivered the verdict. "Peter Randall Pettigrew, you are thereby found guilty of the following charges:
Second Degree Murder of the deceased Lord James Charlus Potter and Lady Lillian Elizabeth Potter nee Evans and Supporting Lord Voldemort by joining his ranks to become a death eater.
You are thereby sentenced to life in Azkaban with magical binders placed upon you in the form of handcuffs to prevent transformations and anti – animagi wards are to be placed outside his high security cell. Aurors, take him away." Said Amelia Bones while banging her gavel for finality.
