47. Removal of the Horcrux

PREVIOUSLY IN A NEW BEGINNING

Albus breaks the news about Harry being a Horcrux to Sirius and Remus.

Upon hearing the news, Sirius started hyperventilating and started showing signs of slipping into one of the worst panic attacks he's ever had. Severus and Remus saw it coming. The Potions Master removed a vial of Calming Draught from the many in his pocket and gave it to Remus, who made sure he had the whole vial, before handing the empty vial back to the potions master.

Sirius calmed down significantly. But there still was a worry in his head. "Harry is a horcrux?" he asked, his voice sounding hoarse. "Yes Sirius. He is an accidental horcrux. But there is a way of removing it without hurting him." Said Severus gently. Remus and Sirius turned to him expectantly. "What is it, Severus?" asked Remus. "You can go to the goblins for help. That's how I got my dark mark removed a few years ago." Said the Potions Master.

"If we want, we can take him today itself. All of his portions from the school books and extra books has finished. And the healing lessons isn't until after dinner. We can fit in today." Remus said. Sirius nodded at this. "Albus, we'll tell you once we've removed the horcrux." Said the dog animagus and went to Noir Chateau quickly with Remus following him using Albus' floo.

Remus and Sirius pulled the twins aside and told them about Harry being a horcrux. They had expected both of them to start crying or hyperventilating. But that didn't happen. The older Marauders were really very proud of them as both took it in a very strong way. But this didn't stop Harry from expressing his feelings that he was disgusted of the fact that he had a piece of Voldemort inside him since his parents were killed. He readily agreed to go with Sirius and Remus to Gringotts and get the horcrux removed and went to his room to get ready. Remus meanwhile told the Tonks what was happening. They agreed to stay home with Alaya while the other three were in Gringotts.

The goblins, who considered the Potter-Black-Lupin family as friends, were shocked to know that there was a piece of Voldemort inside a young child. They also mentioned that Amelia Bones had visited just a while ago regarding Voldemort and his horcruxes. The trio asked the goblins to keep it a secret as Harry already had enough publicity, and didn't want any more. The agreed and discretely did the whole procedure. The ritual itself was nearly painless. There was a sharp pain that erupted only in his scar area that went of almost immediately as the horcrux was transferred into another object and was destroyed quietly. Remus, Harry and Sirius thanked the goblins profusely and returned back home.

They told the others what happened. Ted and Andromeda did various tests and other things to check on his health. They found out that the horcrux wasn't there anymore, but Harry had retained the ability to speak Parseltongue. Harry was a bit disappointed. But he agreed to put up with it and train that up as well.
