We flew from Manila Airport to Kabul Airport, currently now waiting for our landing announcement. I sighed heavily, its was a long and tiring journey for me - physically and mentally.
I pursed my lips thinking about food, music, sleep, clouds, and books. All the things that I fond myself throughout our whole trip to Kabul because vexingly, Adriel doesn't even bother to talk to me but fed himself instead with a ton of book.
All I want now is to have a deep talk or they called this "closure" with him about all the things that we've been through these past few days since he'll vanish himself into my path. I closed my eyes for a moment, he will leave. He'll bequeathe himself away from me and promised to never ever cross his path with mine.
I clenched my fist when I felt the hunger sharp pang effusing endlessly in my brain. I'm not a soothsayer but there's something vague in my heart that I couldn't perceive, too much sadness I'd guess or too much guilt.
“Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Kabul Airport. Local time is 5:30 PM and temperature is 26 degree Celsius. For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign. This will indicate that we have parked at the gate and that it is safe for you to move about. At this time, Cellular phones may only be used once the Fasten Seat Belt sign has been turned off.
Please check around your seat for any personal belongings you may have brought on board with you and please use caution when opening the overhead bins, as heavy articles may have shifted around during the flight."
Adriel stared at me worriedly. "Are you alright?"
"If you require deplaning assistance, please remain in your seat until all other passengers have deplaned. One of our crew members will then be pleased to assist you."
Inayos na ni Adriel ang mga gamit namin. He took off his scarf, drifted his eyes on me. "You need this..." He gently put his scarf around my neck.
"On behalf of Emirates Airlines and the entire crew, I’d like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future. Have a nice stay."
Parehas kami ng suot ni Adriel - a black leather jacket, white shirt and black jeans. A black boots for me and a black shoes for him.
Earlier, before we bid our goodbye to our parents at the airport, he smiled. I wonder why he smiled abruptly, but when I saw myself wearing the black leather jacket he gave me, I got it. I shook my head for not noticing that verity, of all beaucup jacket I have? Sucks! Maybe he assumed something already about me wearing this, it's embarrassing.
I calmed myself, inhaled the peacefulness, exhaled the unfriendly thoughts. There, I have a defense mechanism just in case he'll ask me. I'll reason out that maybe because this a farewell trip for us, maybe that's the purpose I'm wearing this jacket.
Nang nasa arrival area na kami, Adriel was about to lend a hand for my baggage but I refused. I need to handle myself alone. Hindi naman pwede na umasa ako sa kaniya sa loob ng tatlong araw, lalo na't alam kong aalis na siya.
