Song: Dust to Dust- The Civil Wars

"Nothing you could have done would have saved me, because I didn't want to be saved."

"Where to, darling?" He smirks, not five minutes after me being in the balsted car with him. I knew this was a dumb idea.

I scowl at his attempt of endearment. It's like he thinks if he gives that dumb little smirk girls are supposed to come running. He thinks I'm going to just melt in his arms. Maybe other girls do come running to him. By the look of this generation, I wouldn't be surprised. He's cute I guess, confident (by use of a better word than a cocky, arrogant, ass), he's British. Every girl's dream.

But I'm not every girl. Luckily.

They can bloody have him because I want nothing more than to be rid of him.

"Well? Where do you want to go?" He asks again, his eyes glued to the road.

I roll my eyes, while skimming my mind to think of every Virginia map I've ever seen. I want to go far away. I doubt I could convince him to take me to Australia. Instead, I bargain for another small town, a place one of my friends moved to a few years ago. It's supposed to be homey and friendly, or at least that's what he had said.

"Mystic Falls. I want to go to Mystic Falls."

He laughs. "What a coincidence. That's exactly where I'm headed."

"I don't believe in coincidences. Stalker." I retort. I don't want him following me around. It's bad enough I'll be in a car with him for so long.

"Stalker? You could be grateful, you know. Would you rather walk 180 miles? I'm the one driving you, remember?"

"Yeah, and you practically forced me to come with you, remember? Who does that?!"

"Perhaps kind blokes that want to keep young girls from being taken by men who take advantage of them."

"And how do I know you aren't one of those men? How do I know you aren't going to take me back to your place and do god knows what to me? You can't really expect me to trust you. I don't even know your name."

"If I was going to take advantage of you, I would've done it by now." He explains with a shrug. As if that's supposed to calm my nerves.

"You needn't be afraid of me, darling. I give you my word no harm will come to you as long as I'm around."

"Yeah, well. I don't know how I'm supposed to take the word of a stranger. Your promises don't mean much to me."

"Kol."

"What?"

"My name, love. It's Kol. See, I'm not a stranger."

"A name? What am I supposed to do with a name? That doesn't mean I know you."

"Know this, then. I don't give my word lightly. I'll keep you safe."

"You don't even know me. I'm a strange girl on the side of the road. Why are you doing this?"

He smiles, licking his lips. "I already told you. This world isn't a safe one. You shouldn't be out this late in the dark. Besides, I know more about you than you think."

"That's supposed to make me feel better? You are a stalker."

He laughs, happy and light. His eyes are sparkling.

He's pretty, but it's the pretty things that you need to watch out for the most. I don't trust him. I don't trust anyone. Words, they can be empty and meaningless. He could be a murderer for all I know.

I yawn, my eyelids are heavy. It's extremely late. I should sleep. But I was asleep for three years, wasn't I? Why should I be tired now?"

"You should rest, sweetheart." Kol says.

I shake my head. As if I'd take my eyes off him for one minute. "That's exactly what you want. You could do anything to me if I fell asleep."

He shakes his head with a sigh. "I could, yes. But I won't. I won't hurt you. You're tired. You'll fall asleep eventually. You need it. Take some of those of yours walls down, darling. They don't suit you."

"Quit it with the pet names." I scowl, rubbing my eyes to keep them open. "I'm not yours. I'm not your darling or your love."

"I don't know if you've noticed, but you haven't given me your name, love." His tone is soft, quiet. It's tempting. You could fall right into it. Into his trap. And then he'd break you like a prcelain doll.

"I don't plan on giving it."

"If I'm such a stalker, perhaps I already know your name." He grins, playing along into the role I've given him. Psychopath. It fits him well.

"You probably do." I retort.

He chuckles. "Get some rest, Lacey. This is going to be a long ride."

Alright so I've revealed a lot in this chapter. The mysterious guy is Kol :D He's the best, okay? For those who saw it coming, congrats. For those who didn't, surprise? COME ON, who doesn't love Kol?
