Chapter 37: Running

Song: So Cold- Ben Cocks

I know I'm celestial, but god, even stars die.

I hear the sound that my shoes make as the brush against the hard pavement. It's still as dark as ever, and the wind is heavy. I look up towards the sky, and just my luck it begins to rain. Not just any rain, a thunderstorm. It's pouring now, and every part of my body is soaked in minutes.

There's lightning and thunder crashing above my head, and I start to run. I'm headed to the Mikaelson home, for a reason I can't exactly place. I just know that's where I need to go.

My legs begin to ache, but I only sprint faster. I'm wet, cold, and exhausted. I want nothing more than to curl up on the sidewalk and just lay there for a long period of time, but I can't. I have to keep going.

I can't stop.

I have to keep running.

The door creaks open, and the first thing I do is head up the stairs. I'm literally dripping, and I leave a trail of water behind me as I head to my room. I grab a towel from the bathroom, and I crawl under my bed to grab the duffel bag I'd kept hidden away since I'd arrived.

It was always just in case of an emergancy, if I ever had to make a quick getaway.

I guess today's that day.

I grab some clothes from the drawer, only necessities, I don't have enough room for everything. I pack my toothbrush, anything I might need.

After running around the room for about an hour, just grabbing stuff to take with me, I feel pretty drained. I take a quick break, sitting on my bed and running my hands through my hair.

I sigh. I know if I stop now I'll never get finished. I stand back up, rummaging through my stuff, just to make sure I haven't missed anything.

"Lace? What are you doing, love?"

I turn around towards the voice, and something just seems to wash over me, taking over what comes out of my mouth. My blood turns cold.

"Get out." I growl. It's Kol, and my emotions crash over me like a wave, all the hatred and anger just pours out. "Are you... Packing? What's going on? What are you doing?"

"I said get out." I repeat, only getting more worked up. He ignores my words, and only walks towards me, trying to grab my my hands, but I rip them away. "Sweetheart, I know things are a llittle hard right now, for the both of us. We had a fight. Don't be irrational about this, please stay."

He's looking at me like he thinks I'd ever even dream of complying, of giving in to his tricks. I don't. "I don't want to stay. I will never stay. I'm leaving." My voice sounds foreign to my ears, but they must be mine, they came from my own mouth, didn't they? "What's come over you?" He asks, trying to touch me again, but I slap him away.

"Nothing. I'm finally seeing this clearly."

"I don't want this, Lace. I don't want to fight anymore. Darling, I think I love you."

"I. Don't. Love. You." I retort. "I hate you. Now get out. I can't stand to be in here with you. I'm leaving. Get out."

I watch as my words hit like needles, his face contorts into a look of such pain, like it's a nightmare he can't wake up from. "Let her go." Klaus comes out from behind the shadows, attempting to give his younger brother advice. "You can only watch as she runs away like a child, only to come crawling back when she can't stand to be apart from you."

I roll my eyes. "I'm never coming back. Watch me."

I grab the bag off the bed, and carry it down the stairs with me. I head out the door, and it's still pouring the rain. I don't know where I'll go, or how I'll get there, but I'll make it. I take a deep breath, and step out into the horrendous weather.

It's only when I've managed to get around the block that I hear someone yelling my name. I see Kol trying to catch up to me, which only makes me speed up. "Lacey! Please!"

"Stop! Just let me go!" I yell back. "You don't even have a plan." He argues. "Who will take you in? How will you get there?"

"It doesn't matter. You're not involved. Leave me alone."

"If you have to leave... Just let me give you some money. Or a ride. Please."

"I don't want your money."

He sighs, taking bills out of his pocket anyway and holding them out. "Please. Just take them."

I roll my eyes, but I guess money is money, no matter where it comes from. "Fine." I growl, grabbing them. I turn away, and walk down the street. I'm done with him. "Come back to me someday, Lacey. I will always find you."

I just shake my head. He just doesn't give up, does he?

"Goodbye, Kol."

Sorry lol I know this chapter was really mean. And because of camp you won't get another chapter for two weeks! I am a horrible person, I accept this and I love it XD
