"I've loved you three summers now, honey, but I want 'em all"[ THREE YEARS LATER, SOMEWHERE IN NEW YORK ]
"No, it's not straight!" I complained, staring at the tilted star resting on top of the tree with a pout on my face."Luna, this is as straight as it gets." Kyler argued but even then, reached up to move the star just slightly so it was much more straight than before.
Slowly, a smile stretched onto my lips as I stared at the Christmas tree we had finally finished decorating and I couldn't help the giddy feeling spreading inside my chest.
It was just around Christmas time, which meant constantly baking cookies and cakes, drinking ridiculous amounts of tea and hot chocolate, cuddling near the fireplace, stealing each other's sweaters and arguing about the stupidest of things like who would decorate which part of the Christmas tree for Kyler and I.
But I knew that no matter what happened, I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else. All the fights and stupid arguments, every minute spent waiting for each other, every tear and every sleepless night without each other, it was worth it. And I would never want to change a second of it
Strong arms wrapped around me from behind and my smile widened when I felt Kyler pull me closer to his chest and rest his chin on my shoulder as he stared at the fully lit tree.
The familiar smell of hot chocolate wafted in the air and I remembered Kyler making some for himself just a few minutes ago and me complaining to him that he needs to calm down on the intake of that thing. But instead of listening to me, he just gave me one of his charming grins and continued sipping his drink.
Some old Christmas carol was playing on the radio, one that I didn't really recognize but by the way I could hear Kyler humming along, I knew he did.
I smiled as he pulled me even closer and let my eyes wander about the tree until they landed on one familiar picture.
Kyler insisted that we hung up pictures of us on the tree too—an idea which I thought was so corny and ridiculous but ended up agreeing to anyways.
I didn't remember hanging that one up so he must have done it.
"Do you remember that night?" I heard him whisper in my ear, noticing which picture I was staring at, and the smile was evident in his voice.
"How could I forget?"
It was three years ago, barely a month after we met again in that café. I remembered that day clearly, and I knew that no matter what happened, I would never forget it.
It was my twenty second birthday and Leo had insisted that we did something other than just lying on the couch and watching reruns of this corny show we were obsessed with. And so we threw a small party, with all of our friends in the city there.
I remembered the night to be filled with laughter, ridiculous dance moves, one wasted best friend, and kisses. Quite a lot of kisses.
And one, main thing which I remembered with a flutter in my heart was the fact that Kyler Anderson had asked me to be his girlfriend that night.
