cressida leads me down to the beach, fanning her face with her hand and constantly complaining about how hot it is.
"oh, relax," evan says sassily from my other side. "why are we here, though?"
"because," i explain for the third time tonight. "ethan invited me out to meet his friends, and i need emotional support."
him and his friends do this fun campfire on the beach the weekend after the beginning of school each year, and he told me i should come by to meet a couple of people. obviously i brought my friends.
from the distance, i see an orange flame and around 10 or 15 guys and girls laughing and pushing each other around. it makes me nervous.
"addy, i had a date tonight," evan says as we walk down the sand. "and look where i am."
"because you're the best, i know," i roll my eyes.
"hey, maybe i'll like one of his friends?" cressida throws out there flirtatiously as she continues to fan her face. "they seem cute."
"it's dark. how can you see them?"
"i base it off silhouettes."
i nod approvingly. "nice."
we finally near, and i see ethan sitting in a lawn chair laughing with a couple of guys. he holds a beer in his hand, but i don't see him sip from it.
he looks up, and the smile on his face only grows wider. "you made it."
i motion to the two people beside me. "i brought a couple more. was that okay?"
"obviously. what's up ev," he nods to evan. "and cressida. nice to see you... even though i saw you this morning..."
they have an 8 am together twice a week, and cressida tells me he sleeps through half of it usually.
now everyone is looking at us, and i give a small wave. "hi."
"guys, this is addison. i told you about her, remember?" he scans the group with his eyebrows raised and chin titled down.
"ohhh. boat girl. wassup?" a guy, who has had clearly a few too many, grins lazily at me, holding out his hand for a low high five that looks like a handshake.
"what's... up?" i repeat back to him a little nervously, taking his gesture as a sign of welcome.
evan and cressida go immediately to the coolers, but i make my way to ethan, who stands up from his chair and offers it to me.
"i'm good," i shake my head. "i can stand."
"don't be stupid. hey, zeke!" he yells across the fire. a guy whips his head up. "do we have another chair?"
"no, sorry bro."
ethan frowns, but sits down anyway. "okay, you can sit on my lap if you want."
sandy ass or sit in the comforts of my boyfriend?
i'll take the latter.he pulls me down into his lap and i lean back against him. "want something to drink?" he offers.
