Just over 6 months had passed since joe and dianne first talked about adoption and it was lucky that they did. In another 6 months time, they were going to become parents and welcome their new daughter into their home. Today they were doing something big and going to tell Joe's mum. Joe was really scared about how she would react, this was his mum after all, and her opinion really mattered to the both of them. Joe thought by now tracey might of caught onto the fact that there was something wrong. Everyone expected them to have kids quite quickly and now being married for 3 and a half years, their family must of suspected something by now.

So first of all they had to explain to tracey the fact that their ivf didn't work and then tell her about the adoption which was pretty nerve wracking. She was going to be a grandparent but not in the way she would ever expect to be.

"Hello, how are you both?"
Tracey opened the door after hearing her guests knock.

"Good mum, you?"
Joe hugged her kissing her cheek

"Amazing jospeh. Happy that my favourite son and daughter in law have come to see me "
She smiled

"Awwww, I'm happy to see you again too trace "
Dianne hugged her

"Come in, make yourself at home. I'll get you a cup of tea and a coffee for you di "
The older woman said

"You know me too well Tracey "
Dianne laughed. Joe took dianne through to the living room and they sat down. He made sure she was ok. Everytime they went to one of his family house to see them, he'd always act like it was the first time he was introducing her to them but in reality they had been together just under 6 years now. A few minutes later, Tracey brought through their drinks. Joe still had his arm wrapped around dianne. He knew it would be as nerve wracking for her as it would be for him.

"I haven't seen either of you in a while "
Tracey said sitting down

"I know. I've missed coming here. I love lacock"
Dianne told her

"I've missed having you both here. Are you ok? How have you been?"
She asked

"Good, really good these past couple of months"
Dianne smiled to herself

"Yeah and we wanted to tell you about what we've been doing this past year and half. We thought it would be best to tell you in person, rather than on facetime or on the phone "
Joe said

"So tell me then. Your making me nervous "
She giggled

"Dont be"
Dianne laughed with her.

"Well...I guess I'll start right at the beginning really. It was a couple of months after the wedding when we decided to maybe....start trying for a baby "
Joe began

"Are you pregnant?"
Tracey jumped to conclusions

"No, not exactly"
Dianne giggled

"And it must of been a year and a half when we got checked by a doctor and we were told to try ivf. So we tried naturally again until we managed to get the treatment and it still wouldn't work "
Dianne just felt so upset listening to joe speak about it. It was a dark time for her. For them both but it mixed badly with diannes mental health which made it worse and brought back the bad memories.

"So we did the ivf.....and it didn't work"
Tracey gasped. Her heart broke for them as she knew having a family was all they wanted. All joe would talk about since getting with Dianne.

"Oh gosh"
She whispered

"How much did we spend on it?"
Joe turned to dianne

"£7500"
She told him

"Yeah and it didnt work....."
Joe looked down

"Oh you two, I'm sorry"
Tracey said

"Its ok because we started to look at other options. Ivf couldn't be done, so we really thought there was nothing left "
Dianne said

"Yeah......until we looked at adoption "
Joe started the big important sentence

"And in 6 months were gonna be parents "
He announced

"Really? Your adopting "
She asked. They both nodded in unison.

"Awwwww, that's amazing. I'm so proud of you both "
Tracey stood up wrapping them both up in her arms. She was so proud if her son and of course dianne.

"Your happy then? Your going to be a nanna "
Joe said

"I know, I cant believe that. And that's a really nice thing to do, your going to give a child another chance. Have you picked one out yet?"
She asked

"Yeah, a little girl "
Dianne smiled

"Oh my goodness. Tell me about her"
Tracey couldn't be happier. She was going to be a nan, for the very first time.

"Her names lilly and shes one but the time we officially adopt her she'll be 2. Shes adorable. I've got a picture of her somewhere. Let me show you"
Dianne took out her phone scrolling through her camera roll and finding the picture from when they last saw lilly. She turned the phone to show tracey.

"Oh my gosh. Thats gonna be my granddaughter"
Tracey threw her hands over her mouth.

"Yeah, your granddaughter"
Dianne smiled. She was so happy right now. They were all so happy.

"That's amazing. You've met her then?"
Tracey asked

"Yep. We've been allowed to take her out a few times and shes stayed with us once. She's already been to the battersea park."
Joe told his mum

"Adorable. Shes really cute. I cant wait to meet her "
Tracey smile grew bigger.

"She's already started calling me mummy "
Dianne just got emotional when she said that. After all this time she was going to be a mum. She had a tiny little human that she would need to look after. And now soon she was going to get it.

"She hasn't quite said dadda yet but I'm sure we'll get there"
Joe laughed

"Awwwww thsts adorable. Shes too cute. I can't wait. I'm so happy for the both of you"
She hugged them both again

"Thanks mum"
Joe whispred. Just saying thank you to his own mum, it really hit him he was able to make dianne a mum. They were going to do what she did all those years ago and raise their own kid.

Ok so I did a part 2 because I loved the first one.
