A loud scream woke joe and dianne up at around the time of 2am. As always it was hallie, their 2 month old. Well she wasn't theirs. She was diannes.

Dianne was 5 months pregnant when she met joe and was absolutely terrified of becoming a single mum, miles away from her family but then joe walked into her life. They never expected to fall in love but they did and now they had been together 5 months. Joe moved in to help look after hallie as he knew Dianne needed all the help she could need but there was one thing. He loved hallie he really did, but he was struggling to form that close bond with her. Joe didn't know why but dianne had a feeling it was because she wasn't biologically his. He wasn't her dad but was definitely like a father figure and because he was in a relationship with dianne who he loved very much he just didn't like thinking some mad drug dealer of an idiot was her father. Dianne didn't deserve that and neither did hallie. They deserved him, but he couldnt come to terms with becoming a father figure as one day hallie would start calling him dada. He never imagined it to go like this but it had.

"Dot, I'll get up, stay here baby"
Joe threw his dressing down around him

"Thanks joey"
Her voice muffled against the pillow.
Dianne decided to have hallie in a different room to her and joe so they could have their own spaces. It sounded bad and sometimes dianne really did feel bad but all of Hallies stuff took up alot of room and joe and diannes relationship was still very new and they were still in the honeymoon stage do they were trying to focus on their relationship aswell as looking after a baby which was hard at times but they were making it work.

Joe walked along the hallway to hallies room and there she was in the corner laying in her bassinet, her cries filling the room. He turned the light on and went over to her. Gently, he picked her up and looked into her blue eyes. That was one thing she had gotten from her biological dad, but we dont talk about him, he was bad for both of the girls.

"Hello princess"
He cooed softly. He looked at her cute little face and his heart just melted. She looked so much like her mummy who he was so in love with. He took a other look at her and just thought. He wanted to be this little girls daddy, and just looking at her in that second made him realise he really wanted it.

"Stop crying its ok. Daddy's here little one"
He said. Just saying that word warmed his heart. He may not be her dad biologically but to him it wasn't about who made you and who you shared DNA with. It was about who loves you and is there for you always. And that was himself.

"I love you so much. I'll look after you and be here whenever you need me. Your mummy is very lucky to have you, because you are so perfect. Mummy loves you so much, and so do I. Daddy loves you and mummy. I'll protect you both with absolutely everything I have, and I know I haven't known you and your mummy for long but I'm gonna be the extra team player for a very long time because I'm never leaving you or mummy because I'm so in love with both of you."
He whispred to her and then he rocked her in his arms. Little moments like this he loved as he could actually form the bond he had been missing with hallie. Now he felt like he had got that with her finally. Come to terms with it all. He was a dad and it didn't care that they didnt share the same DNA or anything like that.

"I think you need feeding because it's just gone two. Let's go and see mummy and she can give you some milk cant she"
Joe turned around and to his surprise dianne was stood at the door. She had a tear running down her face. She walked up to him and joe out an arms round her while he held hallie in his other arm.

"Sorry. Did I say anything I wasn't meant to?"
He asked her

"No, it was so cute. And joe.....by the way, being a dad suits you"
She smiled. Joe smiled too. He was very happy to have the best girls in the world. His two girls.

"I love having cuddles with you both right now but I do need to feed her."
Dianne giggled

"You do, do you want me to help or are you ok?
He asked

"I don't know yet but can you get the muslin cloth? A fresh one, there in the drawer"
Dianne took hallie in her arms. Hoe grabbed one from the drawer and then followed Dianne back into their bedroom. She sat down and started to do all the usual stuff she did and started to feed hallie. She didn't bottle feed unless she had to, it was just easier breastfeeding she thought as she didn't have to prepare a bottle in the middle of the night.

"I dont know why, but I love moments like this. "
Joe said

"Me too, time of us just all together with nothing bothering us"
Dianne smiled

"Just us three. Our little family"
Joe smiled back at dianne. She knew he was the one. He still fell in love with her when she was pregnant. It didnt matter to him that she was going to have a baby because he loved  her and he knew he would love the baby. It was actually the first time joe said he loved dianne, a few seconds after dianne had given birth and hallie was laying on her chest. St the time they had only been together 2 and a half months and it was just then when joe said it. He was there for the birth and held diannes hand the whole way through and that was when he realised he was in love with Her.

Once Dianne had fed hallie and winded her she layed hallie down on her chest and layed back herself, her pillows perked up against the head oars so she was sat up a little.

"I dont want to go back to sleep. I just want to cuddle with you and hallie"
She said to joe who smiled

"Me too"
Joe rested his head on diannes shoulder and look down at hallie.
She made little noises which made joe and dianne laugh together because she was so cute. This was what they had become and they loved it.

They were a family.

So heres another one shot. I've decided not to do a part 2 to the one where dianne is in a car crash. I tried to write it but it didn't turn out and wasn't very good at all but let's say she wasn't that seriously injured and got better.
