"My father... he uh... Well, he um..." Roman fumbled with his words before sighing and giving the other a shrug. "After my mother passed he grew distant with us. We were very... comfortable financially. Though Ray and I would still work whatever we could to help as our mom raised us right. Just because we had money doesn't mean we were entitled. Father must not have gotten the memo." Virgil's eyes darkened at the sad look in his friend's eyes. "My sister's 6th birthday, Ray and I took her out for dinner but when we went to pay... the card wouldn't work. The restaurant staff was getting a bit agitated and Remus was too so... While he got on the phone with the bank I just paid them with with the last of the cash I had on person."
"What happened?"
"Our family account had been drained." Virgil's eyes shot wide as Roman laughed at himself. "Not just that but everything... Moms account she had for us. Our college funds... Chrissy's trust. Everything was taken. We went home and... Our rooms had been destroyed. Everything of value was gone. Even Chrissy's piggy bank. He took... everything." Virgil just sat there completely stuned as Roman dazed out. "My brothers friend at the time... Janus, he's now his boyfriend actually... He helped where he could. He got Remus a better paying job. My friends Logan and Patton... they tried to help too but I didn't really like accepting it."
"Ro..." Roman's gaze hardened making Virgil clam up. He just smiled as he let Roman continue with his story.
"We managed to get some money from the things father had stolen from us. It wasn't much but... It helped for a bit. We sold most of what he didn't take. And my cousin Thomas helped sell the house before the bank took it back so... we had that money too. We got a small place and nearly exaused everything just to stay afloat." Roman snapped out of his thoughts quickly as he took a sip of his drink nearly choking as he started to cough. Roman just sighed as he set his cup down and smiled. "It was ok. We made do. Sure we were just surviving. Remus brought home the most from his job with Janus, which took care of food and nonessenials. I was to take care of all the bills." Roman's eyes narrowed as his grip on his cup tightened. Virgil could physically see the water seeming to grow as if more and more was added to it. "Then I had to go and loose my damn job."
"Roman, your..." Virgil stared at the cup, watching the water start to boil.
"I lost my job and can't get a new one with my messed up schedule." It boiled and boiled until it seemed to solidify. Roman's eyes were trained on a spudge on the booth Virgil was sitting on, completely unaware of what he was doing. "I refuse to let my friends bail me out. I refuse to accept their attempts to 'help' me. I just... I hate not having any damn money. And no one will hire someone who's unreliable..."
"ROMAN!" The cup completely shattered sending glass flying everywhere suddenly. Roman didn't even feel the pain. His concern was completely on Virgil.
"Oh, shit. Virgil!" Roman was up and over to him within seconds brushing the glass out of the man's white hair and cringing at the beads of blood dripping down his face. It wasn't much that cut Virgil but Roman still felt that horrible guilt. It was so bad... he didn't notice his hand that was bleeding profusely from the glass that lodged in it. "I am so sorry. I didn't even notice. Shit... You're ok. Virgil, you're ok." Virgil was completely in shock, eyes wide and staring blankly as Roman frantically tried to care for him. "Virgil? You're ok. Breathe? Please, breathe? I'm sorry."
"W-What..." Virgil choked his anxiety started to burn though him. Roman tensed as Virgil limply pushed his hands away clearly not fully registuring what he was doing. "What h-happened-d?"
"I... I'm sorry." Roman whined as he took Virgil's hands in his to stop him from fighting him, still too worried to focus on himself. In fact, he was pretty numb to the pain in his left hand. Virgil's eyes narrowed as Roman tried to take a breath himself. "I got carried away. I let my anger get the best of me. My powers must of reacted. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry."
"It's ok. I'm... I'm ok." Virgil's eyes darted to their hands noticing his everchanging nail color as it does whenever he gets anxious. Not quite to the level of an episode as that only happens when he has a full blown attack but still a reminder all the same. Virgil was quick to suddenly let go only to freeze at the amount of blood covered his hand. Blood... not from his own. He tensed, eyes going to Roman's hand only for his entire body to turn to ice seeing it drip onto the floor below them. "R-Rom-man..." If his anxiety got any worse they were going to have a problem yet... Virgil couldn't make himself leave. Not when he knew his friend was injured. "Ro..."
"What? What is it? Are you sure your ok?"
"Roman y-y-y-your h-hand." Roman froze his eyes narrowed in confusion before he turned them over to see the glass imbedded into his left palm.
"Oh, shit." Roman ground as he looked around and sighed. Suddenly the glass broke into a fine power before floating out of Roman's palm until it all fell to the floor. Virgil just stared at the blood that only fell harder.
"Roman, you-you-you n-need a do-docter." Virgil was barely hanging on by a thread. He pulled his hood up making his hair fall in front of his eyes as they were no doubt rapidly shifting color like his nails. He needed to get out of there before he had an episode.
"I'm not important right now. I just want to make sure... Virgil?" Roman hesitated seeing how completely withdrawn his friend had become and he nodded. "Ok. I'll go to the doctors. You go home. Ok?"
"B-But you h-hand-d..."
"I'll be ok, Virgil. You don't look good and I'm not about to let you pass out here ok? I'll text you. I promise. Just... Please. I would beable to focus on myself unless I know you are taken care of." Virgil's eyes darted up to his for just a split second before he ran off leaving Roman there in a state of shock. Virgil's eyes were blue. They were the pretties shade of icy blue Roman had ever seen. He loved those blue eyes, like snow over a frozen lake. Winter... Virgil was like the winter.
So why was Virgil's eyes purple?
