Logan and Roman still weren't back to normal but... They did talk it out. Roman agreed to come back as long as Logan actually listened to what Roman had to say. That whole conversation felt like the negotiation in The Greatest Showman. Roman, at this point, just wanted to relax.
"How much do you think I have?" Roman laughed into his phone hearing Virgil go on about space. "Hun, I don't have anything, to be honest. All my stuff fits inside my tiny closet. You don't have to worry about space."
"Now that just makes me feel bad, Roman." Virgil whined only making Roman coo softly at the sound. "I wasn't worried. I was just asking if I needed to clear something out. Now I feel like we should get you things. What exactly do you have in that closet. I doubt a closet is enough for essentials."
"Hun? I'm moving in. I really don't need much. As long as you're there I couldn't care less. Besides, I had to sell a lot remember? I'm fine."
"Have you told Remus?" Roman sighed as he shook his head more to himself since the conversation was over the phone. He collapsed into the couch as he groaned. "You know you have to. We've been talking about this for a while."
"He's been staying at his boyfriend's, I'm pretty sure he lives there already too. I don't know, Virge. It just... It's never felt like the right time." Roman mumbled quietly as he looked around at his somewhat already empty home. "Plus with Chrissy gone... this place just didn't feel like... home anymore, you know?"
"You still have to tell him. You know better than anyone how he gets." Roman nodded again as he sighed.
"True. Remus would literally burn the entire place down, collect the insurance, and then use it to find me." He teased lightly as he laughed into the phone. "I'll tell him, Love. I will. I just wanted to do it when the time is right. We've literally been together our entire lives. We've supported each other through everything."
"If you aren't ready..."
"No. No. Love, I am MORE than ready. Hun, I want nothing more than to come home to you." Roman lulled softly as he held the phone close. "I love you and I want this. We've been talking about plenty enough. I promise I am ready for this step... as long as you are."
"I'll always have my fears, Roman. I'm terrified but... I can't see my life without you anymore." Roman's heart literally soared as his love's voice tumbled through the line. "I've lived the majority of my life either alone or... protecting myself. I don't want to live like that anymore. Not since I've met you."
"You aren't going to, My Love. You'll have me." Roman hummed sweetly before chuckling lightly into the phone. "We should hang up. I have pack up more and you have that job right?"
"Yep. I promise not to get shot this time." Roman sighed at Virgil's attempt at a joke before just staring blankly at the table. He had a sudden bad feeling. It curled up around him like a snake cutting his airways off. He tensed, his grip tightening on the phone, as he struggled to breathe through the smog that filled his lungs. "I'll see you for dinner then, Ro? Chicken right?"
"Y-Yeah. I-I'll see you later, Love. Be safe." Virgil giggled as Roman choked back his tears. He was trying really hard not to alarm Virgil over the line but his foresight was pulling him under. "I-I love you."
"I love you too, Roman. See you at home." Roman quickly cut the call jumping up just as fast to find a man standing there just smirking. Roman's throat closed upon him as his mind ran through his talk with Virgil. He was just trying to make sure he never said Virgil's name. He didn't think he ever did.
"Hello, Roman." Roman flinched, the deep lulled sound of the man's voice made him want to vomit as his nerves twisted up in him. "It's been a while hasn't it?"
