Roman didn't give two shits about the stains that were currently running off with stolen property in broad daylight. He didn't care but yet here he was with his two partners chasing them down. He didn't care. No, what he wanted to do more than this was to find Virgil. They haven't spoken since than night and he was starting to panic.

He's called him every day, texted him so many times to the point where it's no doubt become harassment. Roman actually had several breakdowns throughout the month due to the possibility of losing him. He didn't know what happened. He didn't...

"REZ!" Roman jumped up finally noticing he had been slowing down, to lost in his thoughts to even keep up properly. Logan had called out in concern making Roman groan in annoyance.

"I'm fine don't worry about me." Roman had to stop and focus on the villains. Focus on the and then after he can find...

"Sorry boys." Raven! Roman stood there in complete silence as the two unnamed criminals ran off behind the very shifter Roman wanted to badly to see. "Can't let you take them down, I'm afraid."

"And why would you of all people care about a couple of petty criminals." Logan growled out almost making Roman snap at him if it wasn't for the soft chuckle Raven had made.

"Whatever pays the bills." Roman's eyes shot wide as Virgil looked them over. "Or did you forget I'm hired help... a mercenary."

"Regardless, you're a villain, and if you stand in our way..." Virgil laughed as he gestured to them all including himself before crossing his arms with a sassy look.

"Stand in your way? Polarity... I am literally standing directly in your way. We're way past that." Virgil smiled as he held his and this sword slowly materialized before him. Roman couldn't help but snicker a bit. The person he's coping his form from must be something... considering that sword is so... anime. Roman sighed as he summoned his own sword, a twinge in his heart over the possibility of having to fight his love but... He's the only one with weaponry combat training. Logan was more long-range with Patton as support.

"You guys go a-... " The earth shifted creating a block around them as Virgil's eyes started glowing bright blue. "Or not."

"As I said... can't let you take them down. You get them and... I don't get paid." Roman's eyes shined as Virgil gave that oh so familiar smirk. Even without looking anything like himself, Roman could tell. Know that he knew it was all he could see. Every move, every expression... the way he carried himself... This was without a doubt, Virgil Kaine. And that thought alone broke his heart so much... Virgil shot him this look making Roman tense up, gripping his sword tightly but refusing to make the first move. He couldn't do it. He couldn't hurt his love. Not again... not now that he knows. He just couldn't do it. "Now isn't this a surprise. Usually, You'd be already attacking me."

"People change." Virgil's eyes darkened as he squared his shoulders and shook his head.

"No. Not that much." Virgil launched himself at Roman who was quick to step back and block. Roman couldn't help but break at the lifeless look in Virgil's eyes. Even if they weren't exactly 'Virgil's' at the time, it still hurt to see. Every strike Roman blocked. Every attack Roman dodged. Every move Roman countered... but he never attacked himself. He merely defended and prayed the shifter would just get tired out and leave. Virgil kicked Roman's feet out from under him just as Logan went to zap him making Roman react by making Virgil fly into the air. The shifter changed from suddenly spreading his wing wide to catch him as Roman rolled out of the way of the lightning. In changing form, it caused the wall to come down but at this point, the other two was long gone and could no longer be caught.

"Rez!" Logan yelled out in concern but Virgil wasn't about to let the heroes regroup. Before Roman even had time to blink Virgil was once again continuing his assault, kicking Roman's sword far out of his hands as he turned to hand to hand combat instead. It took all Roman could to stay defensive. Virgil stuck with his palm causing Roman to have to grab him.

"Why are you doing this?" Roman's voice was quiet as he subconsciously pulled Virgil closer, the shifter completely oblivious to the pain in the heroes' eyes. "They're gone. You can stop now."

"And let you all win and arrest me? Fat chance. This may be job... but I'm still protecting my ass." Roman's eyes darkened as Virgil growled. The shifter tried to pull his arm free only for Roman to use his gravity power to enhance his strength. "It's all a shifter knows how to do."

"Raven..." Roman froze as his eyes met with Logan's, who was once again about to attack. It was just a split second. A split second in which Roman's body reacted before his mind even caught on. Time slowed as the arches of lightning exploded out of Logan's hands making Roman's eyes shine in its light. Roman spun the two of them around and shoved Virgil away a half a second before the lightning cracked against his back. He screamed out in pain as his body was electrocuted but none of that mattered as Virgil the second he noticed what happened was gone. He had shifted into polarity and teleported out the second Roman had given him that opening. Raven was gone and safe and that's all Roman cared about. If he could just talk to him though. He didn't know what he did to make Virgil ghost him.

"ROMAN!" The lightning died out almost instantly making Roman fall to his knees with a pitiful whine. His clothes were singed and smoking. His body was tense and sore. He was hurt but he didn't care. He had to get up. He had to find Virgil. He had to... "Roman..." Roman grunted in pain as Patton helped him onto him up to better look him over. "Roman, are you ok?"

"Roman, I am so sorry." Logan quickly added as Roman just rolled his eyes. "Normally I am so much better at reading your movements."

"It's fine. I just... I don't have time for this." The two other heroes shot Roman this look of worry and confusion as he tried to walk off only to cry in pain as his body went to give out on him.

"Roman, you are far to hurt."

"I don't have a choice. I have to. Pat, please?" The desperation in him was clear as day as Patton sighed and just nodded.

"Alright but you have to let me heal you. Then we are talking about what happened." Logan frowned in confusion as Roman paled. "I'm an empath, Roman. I could feel what you were."

"Just heal me please. I have to see, Virgil."
