Roman was fuming. He sat there on the couch listening to all that Logan was explaining, feeling his blood boil. His love was nearly killed and here his friend was telling him NO ONE WAS CHARGED!
"What?" Roman's voice was a growl as Logan sighed and narrowed his eyes.
"They said they were defending themselves from a shifter."
"I WATCHED ONE OF THEM FIRE POINT BLANK! Don't you dare tell me a group vs ONE MAN is defense." Roman glared the other hero in the eyes as he clenched his fists. "It was one man, Logan. Against a group of people... If it wasn't for me he would be dead right now and you're telling me it was defense?"
"I'm telling you what they said. They ALL collaborated and provided a seamless explanation."
"OF COURSE THEY DID! It was premeditated!" Logan rolled his eyes as Roman flushed with rage. "A group that size, you really don't think they would have thought everything over before it all went down. Logan, please..."
"You haven't been in the right mind lately Roman. I'm worried about your judgment."
"You're trusting a group of killers over me?"
"Of course not." Logan quickly fired back as Roman scoffed and leaned back against the couch in shock. "I'm trusting deduction. They all said the same thing. They said they were defending themselves over a shifter. One even said they told you that and that you claimed to not care."
"I watched them fire at a man. A man who was injured already and could not fight back... he was defenseless." Roman was completely in shock. Logan frowned seeing the dazed look in his friend's eyes making him loosen up a bit.
"Roman, I'm just telling you what I know. I couldn't even focus on the arrest because I was too busy defending you. The station wanted to know why you went after them and not the shifter."
"It was a... God, I don't know how to tell it to you any different. Logan, They chased him into the ally. I stopped the bullet before it could hit him. WHO THE FUCK CARES IF HE WAS SHIFTER?!" Logan's eyes flashed as Roman flared.
"So you did in fact know it was a shifter." Roman growled preditorialy as his eyes narrowed in anger. "Roman, what if it was..."
"I know EXACTLY who it was Logan." Logan faltered hearing just how much the other was angry. "I watched him stumble into the ally. I watched the one man point his gun at him. I watched them fire. Was I just supposed to ignore that? Was I not supposed to save him?"
"They said it was in defense." Roman smiled sadly as he crashed.
"You believe them over me."
"No, I..."
"No, I know what this about, Logan." Roman sighed as he looked away, this look of exaustion filling his face. "You would rather believe that group of criminals and a government who would just at the chance to take out a shifter... then you would me telling you the shifter did nothing wrong. My BEST FRIEND would rather think me sick or that something was wrong with me rather than trust in me to make the right choice."
"Roman..." Roman quickly cut Logan off by holdin his hand up and shaking his head. "Ro, please. I'm just..."
"I thought you would have at least understood or trusted in my drive to be a hero... even if you didn't trust shifters. You know how how I am about being a hero. You know me, Logan." Logan's was just sitting there completely lost. He didn't understand how this conversation had gotten so twisted like this. "You have no idea what it's like out there. None of us did."
"Roman, don't you dare try to say I'm rasist. Out of ALL of us your the one who hated them the most."
"No. I didn't ." Logan went to say something but Roman never gave him the chance. "I didn't. I didn't trust them. I hated Raven. Not because he was a shifter but because of all that with my sister. And because I hated Raven and focused my anger from him onto those of his kind. I've learned I was wrong and I'm trying to be different. What's your escuse?" Roman went to leave making Logan jump up in shock.
"Ro-..."
"Virgil only needs to be healed enough to not be so drained. As soon as Patton is done I want you both to leave. Nothing against Patton, I just know you wont leave if he's still here." Logan's eyes filled with horror as Roman refused to turn back as he spoke. "I'm also going out on my own after this. If I can't trust my own partner to have my back then how am I supposed to trust him on field."
"Roman, you can't be serious." Roman's eyes narrowed as he glared at the wall. "We've been friends since we were kids."
"Exactly..." When Roman finally did look back at him Logan's entire body froze up at the dead look in his eyes. "You shouldn't have ever had to question anything. You should've just known."
"Roman, you can't go it alone. It's not safe. We can hardly manage against Raven with all three of us. How are you going to do it by yourself?" Roman just laughed as stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"I'm not going after Raven for starters. And I seriously recommend you don't either... Point is Lo, you should have had my back and you didn't." Roman was beyond done at this point. "So you can tell Patton what happened when you all go on call and I'm not there to help."
"Ro..."
"As soon as Virgil is healed enough I WANT YOU GONE. The end." Roman stormed out of the room leaving Logan there frozen still, just standing there in the center of the living room.
"I..." Logan frowned as he shook himself out of his thoughts. "What just happened?"
"How is he?" Roman whispered softly as he walked over beside Patton smiling. "He looks peaceful."
"I managed to get his blood stable. I healed a bit of the wound just so that it keeps the blood in. I noticed when I came in the bandages where dirty." Roman nodded as he sighed, still realling over everything with Logan. "He should be good. He's not in any immeadiate danger. All I need is one more nap and then I can completely..."
"Don't worry about it, Patton." Roman shut the other down fast as his hand gripped the chair tightly. "I told you he can heal himself. It was just to much for him to heal at the time."
"Roman, I promise it's ok. I can heal him and then..."
"Patton no." The smaller man jumped at the sudden tone Roman had as that burning anger and pain filled the air. "I told you only needed to do so much. Don't over escert yourself."
"Roman, what's wrong? You're upset." Roman just shook his head as he forced himself to shake his head.
"If you say he's good than you should go home and get some proper rest." Patton's eyes darkened as Roman tried to hold that soft expression. You can't hide what you feel from an empath. "Thank you for helping him."
"I'm a hero, Roman. I help anyone who needs me." Roman's eyes suddenly dulled as he nodded. "That's what heroes do. Right?"
"Right."
