"VIRGIL!" Roman burst up tears streaming from his eyes as his mind forced him out of his nightmare. He was just frozen sitting there, eyes staring blankly as his thoughts spiraled and took in every bit of his dream.
A man in black with a dark inky crown on his head, a painted smoke mask hiding his identity. A sick and vile smirk on his face as he reached out towards him. He was frozen, unable to move, yet his body did so without his permission. His hands gripped tightly to the violin as he cried and begged. Pleaded for the man to stop. Sound reverberated through the black from the instrument causing intense shockwave around him. He continued to plead, praying the torture would end. His ears began to bleed, his fingers bruising at the force. He screamed as loud as he could sending a blast of energy around him shocking the man and plummeting them both into the black.
The past. That was the past. Roman's past. He knew it was. It was different. He was never controlled. He never saw that man but even still Roman knew it was his past. The violin... his violin... And there was still more.
Raven stood there amongst the black, tears streaming down his face. He didn't have to know the form for him to know it was Virgil. He'd always been about to tell when it was Raven. Roman reached out only for than Man in black to appear out of the black and wrap an arm around his love. He froze like ice seeing that smirk as Virgil smiled sadly. Roman called out to him. He held his hands out desperate for Virgil to grab hold so that he could pull him to safety but before the shifter could the man yanked him back into him gripping his neck tightly as Virgil cried. Roman tensed, rage filling his blood as the man gripped Virgil so tightly bruises began to form.
'Pathetic.' He called out his voice dripping with toxicity. He laughed at them both before whispering something into Virgil's ears causing him to crumble. Virgil was in the grips of an attack before Roman could ever hope to help. As Roman went running to him he was held back by the same man who just laughed at his useless attempts. 'You would have made a brilliant Villian. Yet you had to go and be the hero.' Roman's eyes shot wide as his mind latched onto that voice. 'I thought I raised you smarter than that.' Roman whipped around finding nothing but air as that sick laughter drowned him endlessly. 'Even worse, you fell for someone so... pathetic." He spun back around to see the man behind Virgil again, kicking his love forward and making Roman growl. 'Will you be able to protect him? Or will you fail like always.'
'I won't fail!' Roman yelled out, hands clenched to his sides as he teared up. 'I'm a hero.'
'You're a disgrace.' The man replied heartlessly as he smirked. 'I raised you to be strong. To take what you want and to bend people to your will yet... you ignore everything I taught you.'
'I am not you.' Roman whimpered as he shook his head, the unending voices of every lesson he had running rampant in his mind. 'I'M NOT YOU!'
'No? Well, maybe I'll just take him then?' Roman froze, his blood turning to ice as he looked up to see the man holding Virgil by the back of his neck. The broken pitiful look in his love broke his heart to pieces.
'No. No. Not him. NOT HIM!' Roman gripped his hair unable to move or fight against him. All he could do was plead and even then it did nothing. 'Not him. Please not him!'
'You're the one that decided to be a hero, Roman. You're the one that turned your back on me.'
'ME! YOU LEFT US!' Roman roared as he stepped forward so full of rage. 'YOU LEFT US, FATHER!'
'Maybe, but you made your choice. This is the consequence.' Roman broke the second his father teleported out with Virgil in hand leaving him alone in the inky black. Images and fragments of things to come played out in his fraying mind. He couldn't cope. He couldn't breathe. He was drowning in it all. Drowning in his visions. Drowning in his foresight. He couldn't take it. His mind latched on to one vision of Virgil losing himself into the grips of an episode and everything broke down seeing his Father standing there behind him with a smirk. No. He can't have him. He can't. NO!
"VIRGIL!" Roman blinked the visions out of his mind as he pushed his feet off the couch, hands in clasped as they shook in his lap. He whimpered as he tried to ignore those visions but he knew he couldn't. He couldn't ignore what he sees. He's never been able to ignore his visions. That's the curse of having foresight as a power. You forced to watch the future play out before you, unable to fix or change it. Everything he saw will happen. He just... He couldn't let Virgil get hurt. Not because of him. Not because of his father. He refused. He just... How is he supposed to protect him if he literally cannot change that which he is shone? He's lived with this power long enough to know you cannot fight it.
"Roman?" Roman jumped at the sudden sound only to see Virgil standing there with two cups in his hand. "I made you some coffee if you'd..."
"Please?" Roman reached out desperate for the drink as Virgil nodded and handed it to him. He took a sip letting the haze in his mind drift out as he smiled and let out a relief filled breath. "I'm sorry."
"For?"
"Causing you to panic." Virgil's eyes shot wide as Roman stared into his cup. "I wouldn't be on the couch if you hadn't. I know enough about you to know if you were able to, you would have put me somewhere else. I'm sorry for causing you trouble. Patton told me to rest. I didn't listen. So... I'm sorry."
