(TW~ Not really a trigger but It's Remus... Remus is inappropriate so... yeah)

Several weeks later and Roman was dying. Well no. No, he wasn't but he sure felt like he was. The second he could he ran to Patton and practically begged him to explain what had happened during there last encounter with Raven. It hurt. It hurt so much. Finding out Raven-... Virgil had helped Patton by giving him the energy he had taken from Connie. Only for Roman to nearly beat the shit out of him. No wonder Virgil was hurt so badly. Roman had used his power making his kick far stronger then it had to have been. If Patton didn't stop him... Roman didn't know what he would have done.

He felt broken. He felt... hollow. He didn't know what he felt. To think the man he loved so much... was the man he hated. God, he was so desperate for just something to latch onto he even went to Chrissy. He drove all night to Thomas's house and despite his panic and guilt pleaded to his baby sister to tell him anything she might have remembered from that night.

She couldn't remember much, and the last thing Roman wanted to do was push her but... She told him there were these men that helped her. The man that gave her to the hero, who Roman knew was manic... And this nice man who smiled at her as he told then to run when someone had burst in yelling.

So Roman did the very thing he didn't ever want to do... He asked Manic. Yes, Roman as Resonant, sought the villain out, and instead of capturing him asked him about the night with Chrissy. It was clear in the Villains eyes that he was taken by surprise. The clear change in personality was instant. The guy's crazy and hyper energy died down to an immediate and serious tension as he asked just one question.

"Did something happen to her?" Roman froze on the spot hearing the shake in the villain's voice as he quickly shook his head. "Than why are you bringing her up? You're a hero, Rez.  You don't just ask someone, especially a villain, about a little girl unless something happened. I..." Roman could see the man twitch as if wanting to grab something. "He... I... We..."

"Nothing happened. I can promise you. Although I am a bit confused as to why you care about her so much."

"I'm a villain but I'm not heartless Rez. Children are a hard stop with me. Connie too..." Manic quickly fired back with this look in his eyes Roman couldn't quite read. "Now tell me what the point is before I lose my damn patience."

"I want to know more about that night." Manic just rolled his eyes making Roman growl. "Look. I let you go..."

"I didn't do anything wrong!" Roman reeled back as Manic just laughed. "I didn't bring you the girl simply because I didn't want her. I didn't give her to you because some nefarious plan of mine was foiled. I gave her to you because you were a fucking hero and I could trust you to keep her safe. I WAS PROTECTING HER!"

"I know." Manic faltered, his eyes widening as Roman sighed. "I know. I've learned a bit about that night just... not exactly what I wanted to learn. I was told that you saved her from the real bad guys. I'm just... I wanted to know more about Raven's part in it."

"Raven?" Manic was obviously confused if the look he was giving Roman was any indication. "Why the fuck do you give two shits about that shitty shadow sham?" Roman had to hold back the growl that wanted to escape him.

"Because..." Although, his voice still ended up coming out in a hiss. "I want to learn everything I can about that night."

"Some assholes broke in and attacked the babysitter. I was alerted and went in to find the girl being nabbed by some jacked-up wannabe shit stains on a rug. I fucked them up and grabbed the girl before any more dorksicle pops could join the party. That's when I ran into Raven. I could see the concern in his eyes so I got him to notice the bodies just as you started screaming out. He told me to run while he kept you busy. He played decoy so that I could protect the girl and didn't end up with a face full of asphalt and in cuffs. Catch my drift, Phallus Fondue?"

"You were protecting her... and he was protecting you... from me?"

"Exact-o knife!" Roman groaned as Manic giggled frantically.

"K... Yea. Got it thanks." Roman rolled his eyes as he waved the villain off only making the other freeze with confusion, his eyes darting to the black duffle of money he had literally just stolen moment's before the hero stopped him.

"Are you.... not going to stop me?" Roman frowned as he looked back to see Manic picking the bag up his eyes narrowed with a slight frown. "You saw me steal it. You literally followed me from the store."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Manic blinked clearly not understanding as Roman rolled is eyes with an exasperated sigh. "I. saw. nothing. If I saw nothing then I can't be too certain that's anything illegal."

"But you did... You literally watched me steal it. I saw you..."

"MANIC! I'm letting you go!" Roman honestly just wanted to get home at this point. He was tired and emotionally drained.

"You... You are?"

"Think of this as me... paying you back for helping her, ok? I didn't see anything. If I didn't see anything then... I can't just arrest you. Besides law states, I ALSO can't arrest you long after the fact either."

"You do realize that's for cops and only when a case is close-..."

"Manic, seriously?" Manic giggled as Roman whined a bit in annoyance. "Can't you just... run off like... why are you trying to make this hard?"

"Because goodie mister two-dicks is finally breaking the law and I wanna milk it's perfect bosom till there's nothing left." Roman couldn't help but cringe. And by the looks of things so did Manic... "Yeah, I'm gay. I really shouldn't say that. That just felt... wrong."

"Agreed."
