Roman sat there in the bed with Virgil cradled against his chest. He gently dabbed the wet cloth against Virgil's forehead, a soft smile on his face. Sure he was not happy his love was so hurt, but he still felt blessed every time Virgil was in his arms. He just hated that Virgil was so injured. He was lucky to have gotten there when he did to save his life but... He should have been there earlier. He should have... No. No, Virgil wouldn't want him hovering over him protecting him from everything. Virgil was a shifter in the black. That meant he's had to survive for so long on his own without anyone, not even medical help. Virgil was strong and capable. Roman didn't have to be at his side all the time to save him. He just had to be there when he was needed. This time, unfortunately, he was needed.
"ROMAN?!" Roman's eyes darted up to the door twitching his head to send the door slamming open against the wall. It created a loud boom he knew the others could hear. Virgil grimaced in his sleep but otherwise didn't wake up at the sound. That wasn't exactly a good thing.
"Don't worry, My love. Patton will heal you." Roman hummed a soft lullaby letting the music swirl reassuringly around them as his own eyes closed for a bit. He listened against all the sounds hearing the pattering of two district footsteps coming up the steps and Romans smiled. Of course, Logan would be here too. Roman had sent Patton '4347'. It was their code for emergency healing.
"Roman?" Patton walked in to find the two in the bed and he froze up as Roman smiled at him.
"Hey, Pat. Sorry for bothering you." Roman sighed as he carded his fingers through his love. "I didn't have anyone else to call." Patton didn't bother asking what had happened. The second he saw the wraps and bandages around Virgil's torso he jumped in to take care of him. He went to take the bandages off only to stop as Roman grabbed his wrist. "Don't overheal."
"Ro, If it's an emergency..."
"Virgil can heal himself the rest of the way. I can promise you. It's just too much for him to even start right now. As long as you get him going he'll be fine to take over." Roman's eyes shined with a protective nature as Patton just nodded. "He isn't stable right now to handle too much of your healing. And after you healed me the other day you're still drained too much to do all too much anyway."
"Take it in bursts, Hun." Logan called out from the doorway making Patton sigh in understanding. "We've done it before. Heal small bits at a time and work from there. Every half hour or more we'll do more."
"Alright." Patton gently pulled the bandages off cringing at the wound, while Virgil whimpered and latched onto Roman more.
"It's ok, My love. You're ok." Patton's hands shook as he suddenly looked up to see Roman's soft expression in his eyes. "I've got you." Roman took a deep breath as he cradled Virgil as closely and tightly as he could without hurting him. "Ok, Pat."
"Here we go." Patton's angel wings glimmered into existence creating an ethereal glow and his eyes turned a light blue. There was a reason his Hero name was Angel after all. This light pooled in his hand making his palm glow like a flashlight. He then placed his palm over the wound focusing his power on that one spot and trying to use the condensed energy of the light pulled in to help power the healing more so he didn't waste too much of his own. By compounding his abilities Logan and he had found out a way to make his healing even stronger. Patton could feel the pain the youngest was in, but he also could feel the love surrounding the two of them. He used that. He used the love they both, mainly Roman, for energy, making Roman's eyes go wide at the feeling of his own energy draining albeit slowly.
"Patton, if it'll help you and him use as much from me as you can to lessen the expense on him." Patton nodded in understanding as Roman turned his attention to focusing himself rather than just holding his love. "Just tell me what you need me to do."
"Just think about what you love about him the most. I'm using the energy in your emotions and the light." Roman beamed as he laughed a bit making Patton smile.
"Think about what I love about him... Oh, I can do that." Roman smirked as he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Virgil's forehead. "I love everything about him." Patton's eyes shot wide feeling just how intensely Roman's emotions were. It was incredibly powerful. Far stronger than those he usually felt. No this was on par with his and Logan, who have been married for nearly a decade. "He's the best thing that's ever happened to me."
"Well... One thing's for certain, I won't be draining him." Patton whispered quietly as he turned back to healing. You could physically see the light entering Virgil's wound making it all glow. He had lost a lot of blood and that wasn't an easy fix. Patton had to focus on that before anything else. If he healed the rest of him without taking care of the blood issue Virgil would end up anemic and very sick. Luckily, with the sutures that made it so Virgil wouldn't start to bleed out if Patton only focused on that this time and worried about the rest later. Patton sighed as he suddenly sat back, panting lightly as his wings vanished. "I should be able to continue in a half-hour but... I can't say for certain he'll wake up for a while."
"That's ok, Patton. As long as he'll ok. I'll stay and care for him." Roman carefully shifted out from under him. "I can show you the guest room if you wish to rest up a bit." Roman stretched himself out as he started for the door noticing how Logan was leaning against the wall in thought. "Logan, I can start up some coffee if you'd like. We do have to take about that arrest."
"I think that would be satisfactory." Logan nodded with a small smile. "Just as long as Virgil won't mind it."
"He won't as long as I'm here." Roman gave his love one last look before gesturing for the other two to follow him. "Right this way. I'll show you to the room first."
