"Roman, be honest... what's your general idea about them? How do you honestly see them? I won't judge you... as long as you don't judge me." Roman sighed as he shrugged as shook his head in annoyance of himself.

"That shifters are evil. They're tricksters who only care about themself... Don't care about the law because they can always just get away with it. Why follow a law that'll never identify you if you break it?" Virgil smiled sadly as Roman spoke so soft as if wanting to not be heard. "You can't trust them. They can literally get away with anything just by changing their appearance. You'll never know if the person before you is them or a disguise. Shifters are the epitome of the praise 'hidden in plain sight'."

"You do realize that unlike other humans, it is EXTREMELY rare for a shifter to have any other set power besides shifting?" Roman frowned as Virgil nodded to himself. "That means that its a safe assumption that any shifter you may meet will only have that one power to shift. There's literally nothing else they can do except that. And as every other set race of power, there are ranks and subraces to it."

"Yeah... You had mentioned that Weres were a subrace." Virgil nodded again set his plate down not all that hungry at the moment despite Roman's worried look over him doing so.

"They are. Any power that requires a physical and or biological alteration to the persons body is a subrace of Shifter, Roman. That mean's Were's, Ghost, Reapers, fucking Merfolk... Their all shifters. If a lady who goes into the water and gains a tail to swim with is thought of an icon of beauty... why are those of u... Shifters though to be evil."

"I just realized or names for certain power races are all mythical beings for the most part and I'm stunned."

"ROMAN!"

"Sorry!" Roman laughed as he shot his hands up only making Virgil sigh. "I did hear you, Virgil. I don't have an answer. I only know what I was taught. I wasn't even taught that they were shifters just that... The main race was... evil."

"The main race is the least powerful." Roman frowned, his eyes narrowing in confusion as Virgil pushed his knees up and hugged himself tightly. "Each and every shifter race has a tell. Were's have wolfbane. Vampri have vervain and garlic depending on the subrace. Merfolk as water, troublesome tell if I'm being honest. Shifters... Shifters tells are personal. Whether it be an allergy or emotion. Some sort of a trigger that reveals them. They can't control what it is and it ALWAYS sends them out of control."

"You had mentioned triggers before and episodes. That woman was having one, right?" Virgil only nodded as Roman frowned even more. "How does that make her race the weakest?"

"Had you noticed... Her episode... you could still tell her gender, her age, height." Roman's eyes widened a bit as Virgil just smiled. "Her hair length never changed. Her physical attributes like the size and shape of her eyes, nose, and mouth ever changed. Just the color of her hair, eyes, and skin tone shifted. Her voice too but that was it." Virgil shot the other this questioning look but Virgil could already see the gears turning in the others head. "If a trigger makes it so they lose all control of their power, shifting sporadically without any say... and she was only able to do that...  how is someone like her supposed to deceive the government when she DOES have control? All she can do is change a few things and even then not by much. Yes if someone wasn't paying attention she could slip past but..."

"It's a sleight of hand and not a mask." Roman cut in with as his face twisted with thought. "I'm confused. I thought all shifters could change their appearance to look entirely different."

"No. No, they can't. In fact, you are less likely to find a shifter that can then you are to win the lotto." Roman paled as Virgil burst out laughing. "It's damn near impossible."
