Part 31 - Tail fin growing back? -

I walk around the forest alone, shooting arrows on some trees, in my own world so I don't notice my father behind me on a big stone.
I take a breather after fifteen more minutes and turn around and jump backwards when I see him. - Gotten better at your aim. He says and smiles softly. I shrug a little. - Still a long way to go, but I'll get there. I take out the arrows from the trees and look at the tips.
- Am I allowed to use the forge? I ask and show him them, the tips needing to get fixed.
- Of course you are, why would you not be allowed to? He lifts an eyebrow.

- Just thought I would ask, I'm not exactly used to be here. I answer, looking around. He chuckles a little. - You'll get used to it. I nod weakly and listen to the surroundings.
- Where are all the dragons that were here yesterday? I lean towards a tree.
- Out on a hunt, they'll be back, some are still around obviously. - Still a lot of them or? I lift an eyebrow. - It's lower now, gone up with three more with yours. - Four you mean, I have a baby too. - Wait, what? - You didn't see him? He is a mix between a Whispering Death and a Snaffle fang. He gets big eyes.

- Oh wow, you already had three, isn't that enough? - Don't start with all that "you're not ready" bullshit. I say with a threatening tone. He puts his hands up, showing that he is not a threat. - I'm not saying that, I've learned from my mistakes, I'm just worried that you'll be worked out.. I roll my eyes. - I've been fine since I got him, Snow takes care of him too.
- Okay, but I'm here if you need help. He says reassuring and I nod.

- Oh, before I leave. He says and I look at him. - Where do you want your house? - As far away from the village as possible. I answer him and he laughs before leaving. - And I'm not messing around! I yell after him and he gives me a thumbs up and I slide down to the ground. I close my eyes and try to calm myself down, realizing that my heart is beating fast for some reasons. I open my eyes and stare at some light blue eyes. I grunt and sit still, not wanting to spook the nadder.

The dragon snorts and flies off and I huff and stand up and stretch out. I walk back to the village and take a better look around the different stores. I hear laughter and cries further away and smaller my eyes and jog to a house wall and see some boys bully a younger girl. I hiss and walk towards them with a straight posture. The boys look at me afraid and I help the girl up and she hides behind me. - Run if you don't want more trouble, I'll make sure your parents know what you guys are doing to the younger ones. I say in a angry tone. They nod fast and run away.

I kneel down to the girl and she hugs me tightly. - Thank you.. she mutters and I ruffle her hair. - Just get home now hm? I say and she runs home where she is safe. I smile weakly and start to walk again. I put my hood on when I feel stares on me. I get down to the forge and spot Gobber working on something.
- I heard you were back. He says and our eyes meet. - Yeah, I am. I answer and he smiles a little. - Can I use the forge? I need to fix my arrows. - Course you can. I start working on the arrows, making sure that they're stronger than before.

- Thanks Gobber. I say and walk out of there. I hear him bid goodbye. I meet my dragons and hug them. - What have you guys been up to? I ask. "Nothing much, flown around." Snow answers. - I hope Vireos was with you. I lift an eyebrow. "Of course he was." Thunder answers and I nod. I take Vireos in my arms and he whines a little and we laugh. I look at Thunder's tail and lift an eyebrow. - Give me your tail Thun. I say and put down the young dragon. Thunder gives me his tail and I take off the fin I made.

"Anything wrong Avira?" Snow asks and comes closer. - Is there possible for a tail fin to grow out again? I ask, looking up to Luna.
"It's pretty rare, but it is possible indeed." I nod at that.
- Hm..Thunder might be lucky, but it's years ago his tail got damaged.. I smaller my eyes and look around. - One of you two, get Toothless for me will you? I ask and Luna flies off. I touch the fin and he hisses out of pain and I flinch.

Snow nudges him a little, trying to distract him from the pain. - I've not heard about tail fins growing out, maybe there's more info on it in one of the ancient books or scrolls?
"Maybe, but no one has seen any of the old scrolls in years, how do you think we'll get them?" -True, but who knows, someone might have them, or they're been hid somewhere.. she nods a little and Thunder snorts.
"I don't believe that I'm growing a new fin, it's been like what, three years since I lost it."
"Tail fins grow slowly, you're one of the few that get it back before dying."

I look at the night fury landing down with us, followed by Luna. - So he is growing it out? I ask and Toothless nods. "Based on what I have got to know, yes he'll grow it." He goes closer to the alpha's tail and inspects it. "It'll be painful while it grows, and you can't fly with the automatic fin, or with any type at all."
- So basically what you're saying, he can't fly at all before it grows? "Picking up what I'm putting down aren't you Avira? Sadly so, I have no idea on how long it'll take before it's fully out, but it is going to be worth it."

Thunder hisses loudly, not happy with staying down on the ground for who knows how long.
- Hey, you're not dying if you don't get to fly. I say and pat him softly. "I've had to stay down before, I know it's not fun!" He says back and I snort, not liking his tone. - You'll just be in pain if I put the fin on again, and also it's good for you, you get easily in trouble. Snow chuckles lowly and Thunder shoots her a glare. "Snow is worse than me." - This is not about Snow, it's about you. - Thanks Toothless. I say, ignoring Thunder's glare. "That's nothing, see you around." He flies off.

- Might have to tie you up now that I think about it. I smirk. "You know I'm a dragon and can blast myself free right?" - There are dragon proof stuff out there, I could get them for a cheap price. He rolls his eyes. - Obviously I won't need them if you behave, it's not going to take that long. "A month is probably minimum, five years max, for a young dragon like you." Luna says and Thunder groans.
- You'll learn patience, that's the good thing. "So you're saying that you should grow something to learn patience too?" He asks and I shrug. - I have more patience than you. I say with sass. He laughs out loudly.
"Better patience than me, you wish."

I roll my eyes. - But anyway, you're growing it back and won't need a made one anymore, look at the bright side. He nods slowly and flinches when hearing dragons on the way.
- They're back already, thought they would be out longer. I say while looking at them all land and go to their riders. I look at the gang meeting up with their own and smile weakly.

- Come on, we'll try and find where our house is. I say and jump on Snow and we fly around before seeing a house getting finished. We land and I look at it with a little critical eye.
- What do you think? My father comes towards me with a small smile. Thunder comes running to us. - It looks good enough. I lift an eyebrow at the dragons and they fly to look at it inside.
- But it's them who have the last word. I finish and he laughs a little. They come out after ten minutes. "It's big enough at least." Luna says and I nod. - Are we staying here then? I ask and they growl. - I take that as a yes. I take Vireos in my arms. - This is Vireos, the baby I talked about. My father looks at him with curiosity. - He is cute, just remember to train him, we don't want a crazy strong dragon that is dangerous.

- Trust me Hiccup, I know how to deal with him. I put him down and he runs around.
- The problem is that I can't talk or understand him. I sit down on the ground and follow the little one with my eyes.

Do you guys want longer or shorter chapters? I personally like to write longer ones, or until I don't have anything else to put in there, but I want to know what you guys want.
My chapters are normally 1000 words or more, longest is probably over 2500 words.
I can go down to 1000 words each chapter.

1675 words with author's note.

Btw, I'm on a big writing block when writing this (22.August) and the next chapters are difficult to write and I feel like it will suck when I'm done with it.. I guess that's what happens when you write nearly non stop.
So I apologize for the next few chapters after this one if they suck.
