Part 28 - The land of nightlights -

Two days later.
- Everyone ready? It'll be a long flight. I say and they roar. I chuckle softly at Vireos's squeak. "We're ready to leave." Snow says and I jump on Thunder. - Come here little one, you can't fly on your own. He jumps up to me and we take off softly.
Vireos looks around us and smiles widely and I pat him softly. - Think you can do a trick Thunder? I ask and he nods and does a spin downwards to the ocean before following it, putting his wing in the water sometimes before flying up to the other two. I shake my head a little. - How was that Vireos? I ask the baby dragon. He laughs and jumps up and down before I take him closer to me. - You need to be careful little one, Thunder isn't that steady for you to jump on. Thunder snorts a little.

Five hours later
"There it is." Luna says and I look at the island in front of us. - Wait, isn't this the nightlight island? I ask her confused and she nods.
"It is, but it's not only nightlights here, a lot of other colored furies are here." We land softly and look around. I let Vireos go and wander, as long as he stays close. - You guys are allowed to go fly around and meet others who live here. "What about Vireos?" Snow asks. - I'll make sure he is safe. They all nod and take off. I grab Vireos and he growls. - Sorry boy, but I'm not letting you be alone.

We walk carefully into a big cave and I take out my sword and light it up since it's dark. I gasp when I get into the big part of the cave. I see a big nest and walk over to it. Where are the parents? I look at the four dragon eggs before hearing something behind me. I freeze a little and stand still. "Why are you here, human?" A female asks and I turn and see a blue ish night fury and a white light fury. - I..I came here with my dragons. The male hisses loudly.
"What did you do to understand us, let alone talk with us." I chuckle softly and put Vireos down and he goes behind me. - I have a dragons soul, meaning that I can understand you, and do some of the stuff you can..
"You're the girl who is going to save us, but the reason for our downfall too if you don't do what you have to." The female says and I nod.

- I'm gonna do what I can, it's just an internal conflict I have with myself.. she nods.
"You should probably leave, we don't want the eggs to think you're the mother." I chuckle softly. - Of course, come on Vireos. I say and walk past them and out.

I see Snow and Thunder having a competition with some others and I smile softly.
"Are they yours?" A voice asks and I flinch.
- Yeah, their mother is here somewhere too. I answer the big male. "You're Avira Haddock, are you not?"
- I am, how did you know? He laughs.
"I know Luna, we are old friends, so obviously I know her new rider." - Right.. but who are you? "Cortex, the one in charge of this island." I bow for him slightly. - How is it, being in charge here? "It's okay, sometimes it can be hard but it's worth it." - How is it hard? I ask, wanting to know more and sit down.
"Hunters that wants to attack, newcomers, babies, all other stuff." - So there are similarities between humans and dragons.. I say and he nods. "There are a little, but some people are ignorant and doesn't want to see it."

- But there are good ones still that wants change.. "But they are difficult to find."
- Agreed. I say and groan. - Some people just want to hurt the world.. "We can't really do anything about it, can we?" I shake my head.
- We can't do much at least, others need to help.. "And they don't want to, or they're too lazy." I chuckle loudly. Luna lands down with us twenty minutes later.

"Cortex, how good to see you." She says and hugs the much bigger dragon. "You too Luna, how have you been?" "I've been great, reunited with my children and became a friend to Avira." - You have always been a friend to me Lu. She smiles softly at me. We talk for thirty minutes.

The young ones comes down thirty minutes later. "That was fun!" Snow exclaims and Thunder snorts. "Sure, when I was first."
- Did you lose? I ask shocked.
"He came second, losing to Eras." A female nightlight says while landing down on the ground next to Thunder. I laugh. - That's not the worst Thunder, I would be surprised if you came last. "You know how my brother is, he has to win to prove that he is the best."

Thunder snorts and rolls with his eyes.
"You did good Thunder, you were first for a long time." A male says, landing down too.
- You're first for us, don't worry. I say and pat him. Vireos growls and nuzzles him softly. I look at the female nightlight looking at Thunder with love in her eyes. I lift an eyebrow and smirk. - You, come with me. I say and nod to her. Her eyes looks at me confused before following me a little further away from the others.

- I'm not going to kill you, don't worry. I say and laugh. "I didn't think that.." she says, unsure about what I want with her. I lean against a tree. - I saw how you looked at Thunder there, you like him, don't you? She gets big eyes. "What.. no, no! Sure he is attractive and all but.." she stops herself.
- There is nothing wrong with that, you can't do anything about it. "You're not angry?" She asks confused and I laugh wholeheartedly.
- Why would I? I don't know you, but I know you have good intentions, and I hope I'm not wrong. She smiles softly. "It's not like I could do anything.. I can't be together with him.."
- Why not? There is no rule about that like I know.
"Well, I'm only an ordinary nightlight and he is an alpha..it wouldn't work.." - That's not what you're worried about, you're afraid he'll reject you, I understand that feeling but you gotta shoot your shot, you might regret it if you don't.

"But is he looking for a mate tho?.." - He hasn't said anything about it, but I believe he wants to have someone to call his, but he is only seven and has a long time before he has to start to think about it. "Of course.. but he probably is going to have a difficult time to decide, he has a lot of females who are interested."
- Of course, he attracts a lot of females after be became alpha. "He had dragons pining after him even before he became one." - Maybe, he is attractive after all. She nods weakly.
- I will only say this once, shoot your shot. She nods weakly. "I realized I didn't introduce myself, I'm Laise.." - I know. I say and wink before running back to the others.

"What did you two talk about?" Thunder asks curiously when I stop to take a breather.
- Just some girl stuff. I answer, still close to fainting. "Still not the stamina we have, I really wonder what's your soul dragon, I would hate it if it's a gronckle or a slow dragon." Thunder says, getting a smack from Snow. I roll my eyes. - I don't know my soul dragon, the bewilder-beast didn't say it..
"She probably didn't know either." Luna says and I shrug.
- We'll find out sooner or later, I might need to train if I want to get the stamina of my soul dragon, I doubt it comes just like magic. We laugh.

"You can try and race Eras, he is the fastest on legs out of everyone." Laise says and I nod.
- Sure, you up to race a human girl? I ask him. "Sure, prepare to lose." - We'll see. I say and we take place at the start. We start the race and he takes the lead and I push myself harder and come first to the finish line. I take a deep breath before he crosses the line and I laugh.
- You lost to a human, I'm surprised. I say and Eras hisses at me a little. I wink and give him a little pat. He scoffs and shakes his head a little.

- What now? I ask my dragons. "I want to show you guys something.. we need to get off the island tho." Luna says and I lift an eyebrow but agree and jump on her.

We fly for some hours before a big hole in the ocean comes to sight. I get big eyes.
- Is that? I ask, loss for words and Luna nods. "This is the hidden world, where I'm from.."
I look at her and smile slightly. - If it's difficult for you to be here, we can turn. "We all have to face our past.. some are easier than others.." We dive down and our colors changes.
- I've only heard stories about this place.. I never thought I would be alive to see it with my own eyes..
"It's beautiful mom, why did you leave?" Snow asks and Luna sighs.

"I wanted to explore the world, and meet my one and only.." We land on the ground.
"You didn't meet dad here?" Thunder asks and Luna laughs. "No I didn't, I met him at a different island.." Thunder puts his ears down. We walk around and Vireos jumps around and sniffs at everything he comes over. I see many different dragons fly around. - It's so beautiful.. I say in awe.
