Part 19 - New alpha -

- Thunder? I ask and he freezes. - Where are you going? I ask. He's been acting strangely since we came back from Berk. "Oh uh.. just out for fresh air." He answers me and I nod weakly and he flies off. - Has he been acting strangely since yesterday? I ask the girls and they nod. "It's like he is..hiding something from us.." Snow says and I nod. - Right? But what could he possibly be hiding?

"Remember he tried picking a fight with Toothless? What if he wants to continue it?" Luna asks and I gasp. - He is in big trouble if he loses, he'll lose his position! "Wait, even if he is born to become an alpha whenever the time is right?" Snow asks and Luna nods. "Every alpha or queen can lose their position to someone better, even if their born with that rank like you and Thunder." - He will never become a real alpha unless he defeats Toothless.. but if he loses he can be expelled from here, and I know that Toothless is going to do just that, because of my father.

"We better hope that he is not going to do that, but there is a big chance."  - Should we find him, just to look at what he is doing? They nod and we fly off to search for him. I spot him on a beach and we land in the forest near it, but far enough for him to not see us. I can see someone trying to attack him, but he is too fast for that someone. "We were right." Luna says and I see the black dragon. - He is in his alpha mode, he has more shots! I say and Luna nods.

"It's not fair, but that's just how it is."
- You can't do anything to stop them? I ask her and she shakes her head. "If it didn't help yesterday then it won't help in the real fight." Thunder flies up in the sky and shoots the older male down to the ground and we hear him roar out of pain. "Thunder is faster than Toothless, the weather is dark and thundery, he gets better at flying and maybe fighting then." Snow says and I realize that it is true.
- Of course! The weather! I say and they both look at me confused. - He gets more aggressive too! I say and they get big eyes. "Of course, he wasn't this angry yesterday, he was starting to get!" Luna says and me and Snow nod.

- He can use the weather to his advantage! "Yes, but it can still go horribly wrong." Toothless flies up in the sky again after the fall and searches for the young dragon who is hiding. - Thunder isn't stupid, he just has to think about what he is doing.. I speak.

Toothless doesn't realize that the male is following him, just waiting to attack at the right time. "He doesn't want to kill him surprisingly, if he did he would, he is strong enough." Snow says, trusting the strength in her brother. "He might be reckless and all, but he still is my brother." she says again and I smile softly.

The sky lights up when a strong blast can be heard and we see Toothless fall down into the water. Thunder lands and roars loudly. It takes Toothless about two minutes to get up on land and he coughs up water. Thunder growls, his guard still high. The older male bows in defeat, his ears back. I breath out of happiness and relief. "Be happy I'm not getting you expelled.." I can hear Thunder say, looking at him and us in the side eye. "Just don't get in our way anymore.." he says and Toothless nods and flies off. I run down to him and hug him tightly. - I'm so happy you didn't get hurt.. I whisper in his scales. He laughs a little and licks me. He hugs Luna before looking at Snow.

"Congrats.." She says and Thunder smiles, knowing full well that she isn't always good at feelings. "Thanks sis." He says and she smiles weakly. - Should we get home? I ask and everyone agrees and we get home.

I give them food and Thunder eats faster than usual, not really something I think about, he had a fight after all.

- You look too happy for your own good. A voice I know all to well says and I hiss.
- Get the hell out of here Hiccup. I say threatening. I draw my sword and light it, the dragons in a defensive stand. He laughs and leans towards the door. I stand up and walk closer. - Why should I? I wanted to say congrats to the new alpha. He says and I see the smirk hiding.
- I swear to god, I'll get mom to tie you up, I don't care if you're the chief. - You can try, but she wouldn't do it, she doesn't care about you that much.

- Wrong, she doesn't care about you, she's only together with you because she has to.
- She doesn't have to, she could break the promise, if she really didn't like me. I roll my eyes. - Why are you even bothering to come here? I don't need you to tell me that I'm living my life wrong. - I'm not telling you that you're living your life wrong, I'm just worried about you.

- Mother said that you miss me, I don't believe that before you prove it, and you have to find out how. I say and put my hand on my hips.
- You just have to make things difficult huh? He asks and I nod. - Wonder who I got that from? I ask and look at him with an lifted eyebrow. - Drop that attitude Avi.
- I don't want to tho. I say back and he rolls his eyes at me. - Listen Avira, I want to apologize for what I've done to you.. I just don't know how to be a father anymore, and I guess I yet don't understand that you can handle being alone..

I snort. - It's true, I do apologize and I miss you, it's not enough with only Evelyn back at Berk. - We'll see if it's worth accepting your apology. I say and he nods weakly and walks out and disappears.

"You gonna accept it?" Snow asks and I shrug. - I don't know anymore, I just need a break from him and Berk, to get my thoughts straight.. (she can't tho.. she's not straight) they nod understanding. I go out and look at the air. - It's starting to get cold now huh? I'd say we have two weeks until the first snow. I say and smile. "What's the plan for this year? Are we going anywhere?" Thunder asks.
- You guys can decide. "Can we go to the place mom was?" Snow asks. - Sure, we haven't been there yet. They growl happily. I look at Thunder. - You're gonna be okay this year too, right? "Yeah." He answers easily.

I walk to my work place with them playing around. I take the wool I got from Berk and start working on the clothes, finishing the jacket that is going over my thin shirt. I yelp when I get the needle into my thumb. It starts to bleed very little and I lick it off before looking proudly at the jacket. - How does it look? I ask the dragons. "It looks nice." They answer and I smile. - I'll work on the pants tomorrow. I say and take off the jacket and fold it nicely and bring it inside and put it away.
