Chapter Forty-Six

I had been living in Portland for a while now, nearing a couple months. Kai and i were thriving relationship wise, although he claimed i was replacing him with our puppy, who was not very puppyish anymore. Gumbo was huge and very spoilt. Such a momma's boy as well. Most of the time i was making our apartment a home, or training gumbo.

Other times i was allowed to visit the compound the Gemini council spoke at, meetings were a bore. I found myself skipping as many as i could. Kai did not appreciate my lack of enthusiasm. However when he did ramble- i mean speak about his role i listened with open ears. He was very passionate about it. In fact the Gemini were thriving under his guidance.

"Babe come on where gonna be late!" He yelled from the front room, i groaned slipping on my boots. Stupid Gemini council, stupid introductions.

"Yeesh i'm coming." i complained whistling for gumbo who was now trained off leash, not that he wanted to leave my side, my good little dumpling. I made it to the front door where kai placed a kiss to my head before dragging my ass out the door. The car ride was spent jamming to ACDC and debating what we should have for dinner. Kai wanted to cook me something special, i wanted MacDonald's.

Speaking of food, i had gained weight. Healthy relationship weight apparently. It was all his fault. Making me fat. By time my inner rant was over we had arrived at the compound i was use to seeing at night.

"Okay I've got to talk to the council first are you coming or...?" Kai trailed off and i smiled rolling my eyes.

"You go do important leader stuff, I'll have a look around." He smiled connecting our lips into a soft loving kiss, one of those ones where is wasn't reassurance or lust. Pure adoration and love.

"I love you babe, see you after." I smiled getting out of the car, letting gumbo trail behind me into the food court of the compound. Kai had gone the opposite way to us preparing everything to announce my new status. Co-leader of the Gemini. I know, big responsibility right there. I had refused it for weeks but kai insisted claiming there was no one else who he wanted near the role.

My search for mini sausages and milkshakes lead me straight into a chest, anger simmered for a second before i pushed it aside. I'm a grown adult. A baddass at that, i looked dapper today, especially with the snarling beast beside me.

"I'm sorry i sh- Joshua?!" I looked up to be met with the eyes of kais dad. I though he would be six feet under by now, like rotting.

"Oh i'm sorry, my fault." He smiled but his words didn't register, i just wanted to punch him.

"Shouldn't you be.. i don't know dead?" I crossed my arms, it was an actual question. One he didn't seem to know how to answer.

"So you know Malachai i'm guessing." He dead panned and it took every ounce of adult hood not to smirk, i knew every inch of kai, heh.

"Very well, actually." Was what i chose to go with.

"Yes my son is very open with his opinions of me, i assure you i'm not as bad as he makes out." All i did was raise a brow to say -i highly doubt that- before patting his shoulder with a fake smile. Siphoning his magic as i did so.

"I bet." Then with the grace of a butterfly i stalked of, gumbo biting at his ankles as we left. Rounding the corner with my fresh milkshake and hand full of mini sausages for gumbo i ventured to Kai's office, i knew the place well. The desk the wall the sofa.... the floor. Anyway today was not the day for that. Today was serious leader kai.

Stalking up to the door i came face to face with another lady waiting outside, well not a lady. Not the way she dresses anyway or should i say not dress. God she was barely wearing anything, and it was pink, Eugh. She should try harder, kai doesn't like pink. I smiled none the less but all she did was glare, great.

"Mutts aren't allowed on the premises." She snarled like a literal dog making me scoff.

"Tell that to the guy who let you in." I replied giving her a toothy grin she scowled at me adjusting her short skirt.

"You can't speak to me like that." I nodded as if i cared.

"Okay. I'll take it into consideration Candy." That probably wasn't her name I'll admit but she looked like a candy, or destiny or Trixie or something. All though i had met a couple hookers named Brandy so that could be it.

"My names Mable actually, I'm also close to the leader so unless you want demoting take your mutt and leave." She threatened and i rose my eyebrows. Close to kai huh? I chuckled with a shrug, she lifted her hand to knock but i pushed open the door before she could hit.

"Hey you can't just do that!" Mable grumbled, Kai's eyes snapped up smiling at me as i entered and petting Gumbo before the girl walked in and he scowled, i hid the chuckle at that.

"Who do you even think you are! Take your flea bag and get out!" I rolled my eyes gesturing to the paper work littered across Kai's desk.

"Shhh he's working." Her face went red with rage.

"Kai who is this! Get her out of here-" Kai rose a hand pulling a face at her squeaking voice.

"Mable is there something you wanted?" Kai seemed annoyed as i rounded the desk towards him.

"We could discuss it in private." She calmed herself when she spoke towards kai.

"I don't need who ever this is-" Mable seemed very shocked and silenced when i placed my self comfortably on kai's lap his arms wrapping around my waist waiting for her to continue. Gumbo stood tall by our side ears perked and at attention as i leaned back into kai.

"This is Azalea, your future coven leader and my future wife."
