"Ms Thompson, have a seat." Principal Brunel said as Y/N nervously sat on the chair.

"Sir, I-"

"Don't worry, I'm not going to lecture you. I just wanna talk to you, find out how you're doing since..."

"My mom's death, I know. I- I'm okay, and I'll take any punishment you hand me."

His face softened. "It's not about that. Your teachers are telling me that your grades have been dropping ever since. Are... you sure there's nothing else bothering you? It's important for our students' mental health to be on par and if you want, I can set you up with the social worker. With your consent, of course."

"That won't be necessary, sir."

"Okay, well I can organize a meeting with your dad-"

"Stepdad. He's not around."

"Y/N," he sat upright in his chair. "Is there something you're not telling us as staff here at school ? You and I both know you're not okay."

She felt her body tense up. "I can't... say anything." She continuously shook her head, feeling like she'd already said too much.

"And what is anything? What is he doing?" Principal Brunel scrunched his eyebrows.

"It says here that I have detention with Ms Mel, so imma head out."

"Y/N-" he got cut off by her dashing out. He sighed before looking for Santana's contacts.

The bell had finally rang for after school, earning a sigh of relief from Y/N. She got out slightly later than normal because of detention, meaning she'd run into the jocks, the cheerleaders and water heads. She popped some gum in her mouth as her music blasted through her earphones.

Her two seconds of peace were disturbed by an incoming call.

Santana

She knew she had to answer because he never called, and if she dared ignore him, she was gonna pay for it.

Before she could even greet, he spoke up. "Why's ya stupid ass principal calling me? You skipping classes?!" His groggy voice boomed.

Y/N was more scared than surprised because she didn't say anything to Principal Brunel.

"N-no."

"Well he wants to meet with me and I swear bitch, if you muttered a single word to him, you better pray for yo life."

"Santana, I-"

"Come straight home, NOW!" He hung up, making Y/N shiver.

She was so disoriented to the point where she didn't feel herself run into somebody.

"Hey." Bryson said, stopping her in her tracks.

"Sorry."

"Stop apologizing. Look, I cancelled practice today so we can get started on the assignment-"

"I can't, rain check?" She said in between hitched breaths.
