Chapter 15

The beauty of love is that, you can fall into it with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.

When she opened her eyes, she wakes up in his arms. His warmth embrace brings unexpected feelings that pierce in through the depths of her heart.  

She carefully touch his face by looking at him tenderly. She owed her life to this man lying next to her.  If it weren't for him, who knows what happened to her that night.

He was her knight and shining armour. Her saviour. His husband.

Tila nararamdaman yata nito ang marahan nyang paghaplos sa mukha nito. Unti unti itong nagmulat ng mata. Ilang sandali lamang pareho na silang nakatitig sa isat isa. They were looking at each other intently.

"T-thank you, Drei for saving me" she tried to blinked back her tears but few escapes from her eyes.

He gently wipe her tears away with the back of his hands and pull her closer to him. He kisses her forehead while gently tapping her right hand at her back.

"Shhhh... stop crying, don't cry over that bastard, he can't hurt you again, I promise".

His words are soothing. It works magically. Inalalayan nya akong tumayo at hanggang sa hapag kainan.

He was treating me well like I'm his real queen. He cares for me with so much tenderness. Tila ibang Drei ang kasama ko ng mga oras na iyon. His cold eyes are now filled with warmth and tenderness.

Bigla bigla na ring sumisikdo ang puso ko sa tuwing masuyo niya akong tinitingnan. I can't name what kind of emotion that was but it was something new to me. Maybe, it was a feeling of gratitude, I concluded.

Hindi sana sya papasok ng opisina. He insisted to stay with me. Pero alam kong kababalik lng nya at maraming trabahong naghihintay dito. I knew how Drei is passionate about his work. Kaya I assure him that I'm fine and that he needs to work.

That day one thing is for sure we are no longer stranger to each other. Hindi man kami yung typical na mag asawa pero we are slowly building a friendship. It was a great start for us as we stayed together under the same roof.

Ibang-iba na sya sa dating Drei na nakilala ko. Madalas na kaming manuod ng tv na magkasama. Madalas ko na rin syang pinagtitimpla ng kape. Palagi na kaming sabay kumain ng agahan at hapunan.  Masungit parin sya pero hindi na tulad ng dati na sobrang ang asim ng mukha pag nakatingin sa akin.

That day I cooked him dinner. I asked Manang Ester about his favourite meal.  It was kare-kare. Napangiti ako pareho sila ng paborito ni Baste, hindi sa pagmamayabang pero masarap akong magluto ng kare-kare.

Katatapos ko lng maihain sa mesa ang niluto ko ng marinig ko ang pagdating ng sasakyan.

I excitedly went out at agad na sinalubong sya. Hindi ko alam pero parang tila nakasanayan ko yong gawin kahit pa nga ngayon ko lng yon nagawa.

I waited for him at the door and when he went out of the car. I waved my hands at him. Bigla syang napahinto at gulat na napatitig sa akin.  Para bang nakakita sya ng multo sa hitsura nya. 

I smiled and nilapitan ko sya. I cling to his arms.

"Hi, dinner is ready".

Gulat pa ring napatingin sya sa akin. So I rolled my eyes. "Hey, don't look at me like you've seen a ghost". I pouted.

Tila bigla syang na amuse sa sinabi. Pero hindi parin sya tumitinag sa kinatatayuan nito.

"Look,. I just wanted us to get along well. We're husband and wife kahit naman hindi tayo nagmamahalan, I think we need to be civil. Nakakapagod Ka Ng awayin eh. So from now on, I'll be nice to you na. You've been working hard and you've been taking good care of me well so it's the least I could do. So pls, gumalaw kana dyan dahil baka lumamig na yong niluto ko" sabay hatak sa kanya.
