My muscles ached as I threw the last ax. Finally, I'm done!

"Nice throw Zy," Tyler said as he walked towards the targets to get all the weapons we had just thrown.

"Not good enough. Mom would've been able to get the bullseye," I tell my older brother.

Tyler retracted the edge of a knife out of one of the targets and shrugged. "So what?" He asked as he ran his free hand through his blonde hair.

"So, I want to be as good at this as Mom," I said pulling out the ax I had just thrown.

"You know that's not gonna happen. Mom's gene is fully activated. Plus you don't need to be a hunter, you're a werewolf," Tyler said rolling his blue eyes.

I angrily pulled out one of the knives in the target and threw it at him aiming for his shoulder. Tyler moved in a flash and caught the blade with antagonizing speed.

"Come on sis. You can do better than that," Tyler teased waving the knife in front of me. My face turned red from anger at his comment. Stupid retarded asshole!

"Don't make me prove it again," I told him with a smirk. His mouth dropped in disbelief. I hope he was thinking of that time I stabbed him in the thigh when we were training all those years ago.

"Are you kids playing nice?" Mom yelled at us suspiciously as she momentarily stopped her running around the track. Dad was next to her as well giving us a wary look.

"We're fine Mom!" Tyler yelled back to her.

"Ugh we're in our twenties and she's still calling us kids," I mumbled under my breath so Dad wouldn't hear my comment.

"You think it's bad for you? She called me her little boy when we had visitors in the pack a few weeks ago. An alpha should not be called little in front of foreigners," Tyler complained. I let out a laugh at his situation making him squint his eyes in annoyance at me.

"Man I'm so glad I don't have that kind of responsibility," I told him through gasps for air. I started to walk away and back towards my secluded cabin where I came from.

Tyler started to walk as well to be by my side and said, "You're just jealous."

I ignored his comment as I continued to walk till I hit the forest tree line. I began to take my clothes off so I can shift.

"Eww! Some warning next time," Tyler gagged.

I rolled my eyes as I continued to undress. "Oh please! It's not like you've never seen it before," I said. I shifted with a quick and painless crack into my gray wolf.

"Yeah, but since I mated with Jessica I haven't been able to handle any type of nudity if it's not her," Tyler admitted as he began to undress. Jessica was Tyler's gamma's sister and his mate. She reminded me a lot of her mom Lexi who seemed to be constantly talking and happy. It was a good trait to have. It really seemed to come in handy for her too since she was Luna.

I started to trot to my cabin once I heard a crack coming from Tyler. Within seconds a bigger gray wolf with its right ear completely black ran off ahead of me. Tyler disappeared into the trees leaving nothing but a small trail of dust in his wake. I continued my pace not really wanting to be by many people anymore, including my own brother.

I kept my leisurely pace till I saw my small cabin. It was a box-shaped log cabin with nothing around it for miles. I absolutely loved it. I had never been one for big crowds and I didn't have many friends so the quiet small home was comforting to me. I shifted back and quickly put my clothes back on then walked into my cabin and let out a deep breath.

I walked into my bedroom and hopped onto my bed relaxing my aching muscles. I should really take a shower, but the bathroom is like five steps away and I'd have to get up. This bed is so comfortable too.  I don't want my bed to get all gross and smelly though. I guess I'll go shower.

Moaning as my muscles protested my movements I forced my body into a standing position so I could walk into the bathroom. Once inside I turned on the shower and started to strip off all my clothing. I waited until steam was coming from behind the baby blue shower curtain then got in. The water burned me for a second before I finally just adjusted to the heat since I was too lazy to turn the nob.

I stayed under the hot sporadic spray of the water till I finally got hungry enough to want to leave the shower. Getting out I grabbed my big fluffy towel and wrapped it around me. I grabbed a large green tee shirt and black sweat pants and shrugged them on quickly so I could start making myself something to eat.

I was looking through my empty cabinets in the kitchen when Dad mind-linked me. 'Come to the house now.'

'I will in a bit' I sent back to him.

'Zy! Come to the house right this instant!' Dad yelled into my head making me flinch from the volume. He might as well shoot me in the head!

'Fine I'm on my way' I replied as I rubbed my forehead.

I looked once again at my empty cupboards in disappointment. Well, I guess I'll just eat something at Mom and Dad's house I guess.

I left my cabin and took my clothes off to shift into my wolf. I picked my clothes up with my mouth and started to sprint towards my childhood home.

I wonder what this is all about? Dad is usually really happy and patient, but none of those qualities were showing when he mind-linked me. What could be so bad that it caused him to act like that?

I stopped once I reached the familiar landscape, about 25 yards from the front door of the off-white home. I shifted back and changed into my clothes once again. I really need a car. I'm sick of having to get changed and unchanged every time I go somewhere.

As I walked out of the woods and to my parents' front door Tyler and Jessica pulled up into the driveway in their white Sentra. They got out and started to walk with me.

Jessica's dark hair swayed as she tilted her head as she asked me, "Do you know what this is about?"

"You two don't know?" I replied back with a question of my own. Tyler is the alpha. Why does he not know?

"We wouldn't ask if we did. So do you?" Tyler asked me clearly upset that he wasn't in the know. I just shook my head.

"I have no idea," I answered. We reached the large brown door and Tyler opened it for Jessica and me. We walked in and the most mouth-watering scent hit me like a truck.

The smell of rain in the desert with a mix of clean laundry wafted through the air making my eyes shut from pleasure. What is that?

I pushed past Jessica, desperate to get to the source of the smell. I got into the living room where I saw my parents sitting down on the couch by each other as they nervously glanced at me and to another part of the room. No! It's not them. Where is it?

My eyes searched the room till they landed on a tall very hot guy. His dark brown hair was short but cut unevenly like he had cut it himself. He had sharp features with a defined jawline that was welcomed to slice into me at any time. His body was nicely tanned and was toned with huge awe-inspiring muscles. My eyes examined his tight black shirt as I bit my lip. Slowly I met his golden-brown eyes with my own green eyes.

The man and I gasped at the same time when our eyes met.

Mate.

I heard a strange voice say in my head. What the hell was that? Wait... mate? He's my mate!

"Mate," the man whispered in shock.

I felt a smile make its way onto my face and I said, "Well it's about damn time."
