"Will you stop?" My mate asked me annoyed. I was walking fast into the woods so I could shift.
"Don't tell me what to do!" I sneered back at him. Once I reached the tree line I tore my shirt off.
"Woah!" I heard him say behind me.
Ignoring him I continued to undress. I could feel his eyes on me as more of my clothing dropped to the ground. Eyes that might never open again one day because of me.
I shifted into my gray wolf and ran to my cabin. My cabin came into view and I shifted back into my human form. As I put my clothes back on, I held in tears.
"Are you done running now?" I heard a deep grumble behind me.
I turned around quickly to see my mate standing in nothing but a pair of basketball shorts. The defined muscles of his chest heaved up and down, attracting my eyes to them. What a beautiful body that I might destroy.
"Why are you here?" I asked him running my hand through my hair.
My mate looked at me with shock and sadness in his eyes as he told me, "You're my mate."
I shook my head rather violently, trying to clear my mind. How can he even bring himself to call me that?
"You're mate that might kill you!" I shouted back.
"I don't care," he replied calmly.
"How can you not care?" I asked in disbelief.
He just shrugged saying, "I've been alive longer than any being should be allowed to live. After so much time has gone by, you do it all. You don't have anything to keep living for."
"So you want to die?" I asked angrily. What the hell is wrong with him?
"I don't want to die. I have a reason to live," he told me.
"You just said you have nothing to live for because so much time has passed," I told him.
He shrugged then told me, "Well having a soul mate is a new development. I haven't done that yet."
I shook my head then started to walk towards my cabin. I opened the front door with him right behind me. As I walked through the threshold he stayed still, not knowing if he should continue or not.
"Are you coming?" I asked impatiently. Why did I say that? What if I accidentally kill him? We shouldn't be alone in a secluded cabin in the woods! This has all turned into a horror movie.
'Shut up and be with our mate!' I heard that same voice that said mate in my head earlier. What the hell? What is that? I got no reply. What is happening to me?
I felt warm hands touch my shoulders sending electrical currents through my body.
"Hey, are you alright?" The hands' owner asked me. I looked up still slightly dazed to meet his golden eyes.
"I...I don't know," I stuttered back. I'm hearing a voice inside my head.
"What's wrong?" He asked me concerned.
"I... I've heard this voice in my head. It's a female voice that has spoken to me twice now!" I blurted out to him.
His eyes narrowed as he took in my frantic state. "What did she say?" He asked me.
"Well first she said mate when I first saw you, then just now she told me to shut up and be with our mate," I rambled out to him. I'm crazy. I have lost my mind.
"That's your wolf. Have you never heard her before?" He inquired of me.
I shook my head as I replied, "Because of my hunter gene parts of my wolf doesn't exist, or at least we thought so. We thought that I could only feel her emotions. That I could never hear her or communicate to her."
