Carter stayed in a gloomy mood for two weeks. He would only answer in short sentences and he preferred to be alone. It got to a point where I was so worried that I had invited Carter to train, just me and him. Al wasn't excited at the idea of me being alone with an unmated male, but he agreed to it, knowing that something had to be done.
That's how I came to be alone at the training grounds with Carter. Him on his back after I had flipped him with one arm.
He groaned as I held my hand out to help him up. "I thought you were a beta?" I asked in a teasing manner. He glared at me and shoved my hand away, and he got himself up with a huff.
"I was," he growled.
I tilted my head examining him. He's getting angry... good. "Then prove it," I challenged him.
Carter let out a yell then charged at me. I felt a smile creep its way onto my face as he ran towards me. About damn time.
Carter gripped my waist and slammed me on the ground. I quickly kicked my legs up so that we rolled over and he was the one with his back on the ground. He then butted his head against mine causing me to rock back and fall off of him. He rolled over his shoulder in a way similar to a volleyball player and then jumped on top of me. Before he could do anything I laced my legs around his and made him fall down. I then got up and pinned him. He attempted to get out of my hold for about three minutes or so until he finally stopped struggling.
"Fine! You win," Carter grunted out. I let go of him and stepped away. I smiled widely as he mumbled profanities under his breath and pulled himself up into a sitting position.
"Why are you smiling?" He asked me with a small smile of his own.
"You're back," I declared. He tensed and seemed to be in deep thought for a few moments.
"Yeah, I guess I am," he replied with a large grin.
"Nice to have you back asshole," I told him as I stretched my hand out for him. He grabbed it and I helped him up.
"Don't tell Alpha that I held your hand right then. It might put too much pressure on him. It's hard to match up to all of this," Carter joked as he gestured to himself. I laughed and was glad that Carter was back to being himself.
"Your secret is safe with me," I told him. He looked at me with a large grin, but the smile, slowly but surely, turned into a worried frown.
"Carter, what's wrong?" I asked him.
"You're bleeding," Carter answered.
I laughed then said, "Yeah right. Funny joke."
"No, Zylee I'm serious! You're bleeding!" He snapped at me as he grabbed my shoulders. I looked at him in surprise, searching his face for a hint of a lie. He's not joking. I lifted my hand to the part on my forehead that he had been staring at and felt a light sting. I brought my hand back down and sure enough, there was blood.
"How is that possible? It should be healed by now," I mumbled in disbelief.
"I don't know! We need to get Alpha," Carter rambled.
'Al I need your help. It's important,' I mind-linked Carter.
'I'm already on my way. Carter said that you're bleeding!' He answered.
'I don't know how it's possible,' I replied.
'I'll be there in a few seconds. Just stay where you are!' Al commanded then cut off the mind link.
Al suddenly appeared beside me and he quickly put his hands on each side of my face. His golden eyes narrowed as they examined the still bleeding wound on my head.
