"I'm telling you this girl will be the end of us all," a man with a bald head and brown eyes said to a small crowd that was gathered around him on a picnic table.
"Who will be the end of us all?" Al asked loudly making everyone in the group turn to look at me and my mate.
"No one alpha," a black-haired teenage girl in the group answered.
"Shut up Sheryl! We meant that beast that is next to you," The original man sneered as he gestured towards me with his hand.
"No one is a beast here," Al said.
"Except this floozy that is destined to kill you. If you die then we're all next," the man said.
Al appeared in front of the man making him stumble backward. "Al stop!" I yelled out. I used my speed and as Al was about to grab the bald man I grabbed Al's arm and threw him back. Al flew through the air then landed on his back about ten feet away. The group all gasped in shock as Al got to his feet.
"Like I said Alpha. She'll be the end of us all," the man said as I continued to stare at Al in horror. Why did I do that?
"I think you kids are seeing this wrong," I heard Uncle Jerry call out. I turned to where I heard his voice to see Jerry's tall figure next to aunt Hayley emerging from a cluster of trees by the nearest cabin.
"And what would a hunter know?" The bald man hissed.
"Well I know that Vaxon tried to kill my sister so that girl in front of you wouldn't be born," Jerry said as he walked to my side. Hayley put her hand on my shoulder and I took in a shaky breath.
"Your sister?" The girl whose name was Sheryl asked.
"Yep! This here is my niece. Which also means, that any of you want to touch her, you have to go through me, but you guys are missing the big picture here. She's meant to kill Vaxon too," Uncle Jerry told the crowd.
"It's not too! I won't kill Al! I refuse to," I yelled almost in tears.
"She's my mate. She doesn't want to hurt me," Al said coming to my side. Al wrapped me in his arms protectively and warm sparks shot through me.
"She won't mean to Alpha. We all know how prophecies are. They're fulfilled no matter what," Carter said walking into the group from out of the trees opposite of Jerry and Hayley in a pair of basketball shorts.
"You're the one that's spreading this. Aren't you?" Al asked Carter with disgust on his face.
"I had to. You're our alpha, our king. I won't just let you sleep with your killer," he said completely sincere.
"I... I would never," I defended myself.
"Here's the thing sweetie, we all just saw you throw the most powerful werewolf in history around like a rag doll," the bald man said as people murmured in agreement.
"So you're all scared of her?" Hayley asked them.
"Yes," Sheryl and Carter answered at the same time.
"Well are you guys scared of the alpha king?" Hayley asked. Nobody answered as they all looked at each other.
"That's different. We know Alpha and he has sworn to protect us," Carter answered.
"Doesn't change the fact that you're scared of him as well. Wouldn't it make sense that his mate, his equal, would also scare you all? That she would be just as powerful," aunt Hayley asked the group. They talked among themselves, arguing for or against my aunt's words.
"I promise I won't harm any of you, and I would rather die than hurt my mate," I declared.
"Your word means nothing. We don't know you," the bald man sneered.
