"Wait so I'm not pregnant?" I asked Nora.
"Not that I can tell, but you're not a full werewolf. The equipment out here isn't good enough for me to tell you a definitive yes or no," Nora explained to Al and me.
"So where would we need to go to find out?" Al asked.
"You'll need to get a human pregnancy test. When women hunters have children it's hard to tell if they're pregnant unless they're almost in their third trimester. Hopefully, her hunter gene will be balanced with her werewolf gene and a regular human test will work. Otherwise, you're just gonna have to wait and see," Nora informed us.
"Wait, so there's a possibility that we won't know if we're going to have a baby until I'm the size of a freaking whale?" I asked frustrated.
The gray-haired woman shrugged her shoulders and told us, "Look I was a midwife to werewolves. It's amazing that I know anything about human and hunter babies. Plus you're a hybrid. Nobody really knows how this is gonna go for you."
I groaned and let my head flop back. Al put his hand on my back and rubbed it in comforting circles.
"I guess we're just gonna have to go to one of the human towns," Al told me.
"Actually... you might want to go to a mixed community," Nora told us making us look at her in confusion, "She needs to get a blood test to know for sure, and you don't want a human dealing with werewolf blood."
"Well, that's gonna make the trip a bit longer. The closest mixed community is..." Al started but I cut him off.
"White Lake," I finished for him.
"I don't know if we should go there," Al said shaking his head.
"Al, it's where I grew up. I have family there. Plus my brother can get me tested in the hospital with whatever doctor we want and then have the samples all destroyed," I argued with Al.
"We still don't know what really happened to your brother though. If you are pregnant and there's a trap in White Lake then you won't heal," Al argued.
"Al there has been no other report about something like that happening in months. It's safe to go," I defended.
Al took in a deep breath then let it out. "Fine," he agreed. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"I'll tell Carter," Al said as he pulled out of the hug.
"We should bring my aunt and uncle. They'll want to see their kids," I told Al.
"They have kids?" Al asked in disbelief.
I nodded with a smile as I remembered the crazy trio. "One son and two daughters," I replied.
"No offense Luna, but your uncle is a child himself. How the hell did he raise three kids?" Nora questioned.
I shrugged my shoulders and answered, "I don't know. He's just my uncle."
"Yeah, we're taking them with us. I have got to see Jerry being a parent in action," Al said.
"Let's go tell them then," I told Al.
"Thank you for your insights, Nora," Al told the gray-haired woman. She nodded at us then we exited her house.
Luckily for us, my aunt and uncle's house was only a few houses over from Nora's and it looked occupied. We marched up to the front door and walked in. There was a quiet shuffling then suddenly Al grunted in pain.
I looked at my mate and saw one of my uncle's knives in his shoulder. "Jerry it's just us! Put away the knives!" I yelled out.
Jerry and Hayley's heads appeared sideways looking at us with their bodies behind a wall. Al grabbed the hilt of the knife and pulled it out. He dropped the blood-covered knife on the floor and his wound began to heal.
"What is with you people and throwing knives at people before you know who they are?" Al asked us angrily.
"If we look then our position is given up and we lose the element of surprise," I said to my mate crossing my arms over my chest. Al bit his lip as he gave me a hard stare.
"Mind telling us why you're in our house?" Hayley asked making our attention turn to them.
"We're going to White Lake," Al answered. The couple's eyes lit up at the mention of their home.
"We're visiting?" Hayley asked with a large smile.
"Yes. Al and I have something we have to do in White Lake and we assumed you'd like to go and see your children," I answered.
"Oh hell yeah!" Jerry yelled. He turned around and left calling out to the rest of us, "I'm gonna start packing let's leave in say umm five minutes."
"Yeah sounds good to me," Al called back.
"I better go help him. The last time he packed by himself he forgot to bring pants," Hayley told us then turned around to go help her husband.
"Man he really is a child," I mumbled.
"We better go tell Carter he's in charge then head out," Al told me. I nodded my head then grabbed his hand. He then opened the door and we left.
