"Zylee! Don't use that kind of language around the alpha king," Mom hissed at me, her blue eyes mortified. Alpha king? My mate is the super old, original werewolf?
"You're the alpha king?" I asked with disbelief dripping from my words.
"Some people may call me that," he grumbled in a deep annoyed voice as he rolled his golden eyes. I let out a forced laugh as my mind went spinning. He's the alpha king! Of course! Why wouldn't he be?
"Zylee, please show him the respect he deserves," Dad told me with a stern look.
My mate shook his head lightly as he told them, "Oh she really doesn't have to do that."
"Oh course she does. We owe you our lives, so they also owe you their lives," Mom said as she gestured between her and Dad. What is she talking about?
"Uhhh what do you mean?" Tyler asked, just as confused as me.
Mom turned to us with a sad face and told us, "The night that your father and I got married, as you two know was the night your father's parents died. Well they were killed by the first rogue, Vaxon. If the alpha king hadn't shown up, he would've killed everyone."
"Why would he want to kill everyone?" I asked my mate.
My mate's eyes hardened even more for a second then he crossed his large toned arms. "He only wanted to kill your parents. Everybody else was just in the way," he said.
I raised my eyebrows up in surprise as I bluntly inquired, "Why?"
"Zylee, don't be rude!" Mom scolded nervously. She probably thinks this powerful being in front of me will rip my head off. The guy is my mate, he can't hurt me.
"No, it's fine," my mate held his hand up to Mom then continued, "He came to make sure you two were never born."
I turned from my mate towards my parents to look at their faces. Mom's blue eyes refused to meet mine while Dad's green eyes were full of sorrow. So I'm guessing that's the truth.
"Start talking. Now," I commanded as I took an imitating step towards the alpha king.
He looked at me with a shocked expression, obviously impressed by my bravery. Or impressed by my stupidity, really it could've gone either way.
"Zylee!" Tyler yelled at me worriedly.
My mate held his huge calloused hand up to silence everybody in the room. He took a step forward as well making it so our chests were nearly touching. I didn't move. Holding my ground I continued to glare up at him. Heat seemed to radiate from him, making my chest feel nice and warm. We stayed like that, silent for a while, the room looking on in terror.
"You're lucky you're my mate. I've killed people for less than this," he declared clearly for the entire room to hear. I heard everyone in the room gasp at his words. Did they not hear him when I first walked in the room?
Ignoring the shock from my family I shrugged my shoulders smirking as I said, "I guess you're going to have to learn better self control then."
An amused grin appeared across his face for a split second then disappeared. The reaction was so quick I didn't know if it had truly happened or not.
"Or you could learn better manners," he grumbled as he tilted his head. Aww, how cute? He thinks I'm going to change for him.
"That's an adorable thought sweetie, but you'll learn in time that when I ask for something, it's better to just go along with it," I warned.
"You want to order me around like a puppy?" He asked stiffly crossing his arms as he let out a huff.
"Don't be a beast and you won't need a leash," I shot back. He seemed angry at my words, but made no move to kill me. His golden eyes looked like a fire was set off inside of them as he looked at me.
"So let's answer the question," I suggested in a cheery voice and clapped my hands together. He growled slightly and took a step back keeping his arms crossed. I win!
I stepped back as well, looking at the shocked faces of my family, I motioned for him to start.
"There's a prophecy that was foreseen by Vaxon's first kill. The woman who said it was my first beta's mate. They had the first mate bond ever to exist, but that isn't what made the prophecy bound to happen. His mate was the moon goddess's daughter. She had fallen in love with my beta and her mother blessed them with the mate bond. When Vaxon killed her, he was trying to discover how he could obtain a soul mate for himself. When she refused to tell him he got angry and killed her. When she was dying her mate could feel everything she felt. He told me after she died that it was like they were one person. He said that she made that prophecy to ensure that he had revenge for her death since she could feel how hurt he was. Her prophecy was sealed by her magic. Nothing in the universe can change it now. The prophecy said that one of you two will tame the last werewolves. That's why Vaxon wanted your parents dead. To ensure that you were never born," he said.
"What do you mean tame the last werewolves?" Jessica asked. This is the first time she has talked since seeing the alpha king. It's a little weird that she's been so quiet.
My mate shrugged then answered, "I don't know. I'm assuming that means one of you will kill us."
"Woah... us?" I asked angry that he put himself in the bound to die category.
"Vaxon and I are the only original werewolves left. After the rest of my pack found their mates, they started aging again. Eventually they all became old and died with their mates," he explained.
"You're not allowed to die," I told him sternly.
"Aww does someone care?" He asked me sarcastically.
"Of course I do! You're my mate!" I snapped at him. His eyes looked at me in pleasant surprise and he took a step towards me.
"We'll figure it out," he promised in a soft deep voice that only I could hear. We looked into each others eyes intensively and slowly started to inch towards each other. Our bodies like magnets for each other were yearning for the other to touch it. We got closer and closer, not noticing the change in distance.
"Which one of us is the prophecy is talking about?" Tyler asked interrupting my moment with my mate. Brothers ruin everything.
My mate's head shot up and he said, "I don't know for sure, but I have an inkling about who it is now."
"Well, who is it?" I asked shaking my head to regain control of my body. That mate bond stuff is the real deal.
My mate looked into my green eyes as he said, "You." I took a deep breath in at his reveal. Taking a step away from him in horror as it all sunk in. I might kill the most powerful creatures on Earth? I might kill my mate?
