"Jerry! Why is half the training field on fire?" Al screamed as the fire consumed the grass and trees that entered our line of sight. We shouldn't have left him in charge. This man has the maturity of a young child... no scratch that his children were more mature and responsible than him when they were three! He has the mentality of a two-year-old and the body and skills of a hunter, what an absolutely terrible combination!

"I told you not to leave him in charge," I declared in a whisper as I pinched the bridge of my nose. And to think we didn't even leave him alone! That means he talked at least one other person into letting him do this! How? How did that happen?

There was a loud scuffle then Jerry emerged from a group of trees. There was soot smeared across his face and his graying blonde hair was extremely messy. His shirt was burned so badly that I couldn't even tell what color it had been and the only parts of it that really remained were the collar and the left shoulder sleeve. What had once been his pants were now black shorts and he no longer wore any shoes. What the hell did he do?

"Jerry. What happened?" Mom asked annoyed but not entirely surprised. At moment her eyes were simply examining her brother and making sure that he wasn't truly harmed. She must be used to these kinds of antics since she grew up with him, and from what I've heard it's always been about the same behavior.

Jerry shrugged then answered, "I thought that teaching the girls how to use fire to their advantage would be a good idea."

"Why would Lindsay and Sheryl need to know that?" Al asked with a hint of anger in his tone. His body was stiff and I could tell that he was holding himself back from strangling Jerry... me too mate, me too.

"In case Vaxon set the forest on fire," Jerry defended himself.

"So you set the forest on fire?" Dad yelled motioning to the flames.

"It was the best way to teach them how to defend themselves against Vaxon," Jerry stated crossing his soot-covered arms over his bare chest.

"Why would Vaxon set a fire in a forest that was close to him?" Carter asked while rolling his eyes. Jerry gave another shrug then noticed the fact that Carter's arm was wrapped around his daughter.

"Why the hell are you touching my daughter?"Jerry asked tilting his head to the side and giving Carter a killer glare. Carter visibly gulped and his brown eyes went wide.

How was he able to go from an idiot that set the forest on fire to a concerned father who has done no wrong and is always right? How was it possible? It was such an easy and effortless transition too?

"Dad you set things on fire like an arsonist, and you want to know why my mate is touching me?" Kylie inquired in disbelief.

"Mate?" The voice of Hayley could be heard as she yelled from the other side of the fire.

"Mom? Dad, is Mom trapped somewhere because of this fire?" Kylie yelled.

"She's not trapped," Jerry replied rolling his eyes. He tapped his foot and Kylie fixed in on the movement. She was so familiar with her father's behavior that she knew he was lying by that simple fidgeting.

"Then where is she?" Kylie questioned stepping out of Carter's grasp.

"Hey this is not what we are talking about right now young lady," Jerry argued a bit flustered.

"Like hell, it isn't!" Kylie yelled at him.

"Enough! You two go get Hayley and figure things out. Carter and everyone else stay with me and help me put out this damn fire!" Al ordered loudly.

"Yes Alpha King," everyone answered simultaneously. Everyone parted their ways to do their jobs, and within 30 minutes the fire that had been raging was vanquished. The once green lush grass and healthy trees were now just heaps of smoldering black ash. Well, at least the place can't be ruined by Vaxon now since Jerry already ruined it.

"Carter go ahead and go to Kylie," I told the curly blonde-haired man. Carter nodded feverishly and without hesitation ran off towards the direction of Jerry and Hayley's cabin.

"Do you think our son will run that fast to his mate?" Al asked before coming to my side and draping his arm over my shoulders.

"No. He'll be much faster than Carter," I answered honestly as I leaned into my mate's touch.

Al took in a deep breath as his eyes scanned the dead plant life. "Will we stay here after we beat Vaxon?" Al asked me abruptly.

"Where did this come from?" I asked confused. Al stayed quiet and his eyes examined the wreckage. I put my hands on either side of his face and made him look at me instead of the once beautiful forest.

"Just looking at all this destruction, and seeing that there are less than twenty people to care, made me wonder if that's the best thing for our child," Al admitted.

"We have a responsibility to look after the people here. I don't know if we can leave," I replied as I let my hands fall away from his face.

"Why does responsibility always land on me? Can't I just be with my wife and child in peace?" Al complained as his hand grazed my cheek.

"Well for one you're the alpha king, and second I'm not your wife," I replied while rolling my eyes.

"You will be. I know it's a human thing, but you're half-human and I want all of you. As for the alpha king thing, I'm not a king," Al said.

"So you weren't joking when you told my grandparents I'm your fiancée?" I asked letting the alpha king subject drop.

Al shook his head with a smile on his face. "The plague couldn't have been more serious than I was," Al joked. He then leaned down and his lips pressed against mine.

The hot tingles were sadly interrupted when Anne mind-linked us. 'Dave is back,' her petite voice rang throughout our minds.

Al and I stepped away from each other and gave each other a wide-eyed look. Why is he back already?

'Where is he?' I mind-linked back. He shouldn't be back this early. It's too soon.

'He's at Nora's,' she answered.

'Thank you, Anne," Al replied. After she replied the connection was cut off.

"This isn't good. We needed him to be gone till tomorrow so we could set all the traps," I said.

"I know," Al grumbled. With that, we started to run towards Nora's cabin.

We got there quickly and Al hurriedly pushed the door open without knocking. I followed him feeling slightly out of breath. Man, I'm starting to feel some pregnancy effects.

We entered the familiar house with the typical 1980s decorations. Our eyes met Nora's, who was placing an orange goo on a large gash on the back of Dave's shoulder.

"What the hell happened?" I asked.

"Apparently Vaxon likes the bars in Montana as much as I do. Ran into a few human ladies that claimed to be in love with him," Dave answered using quotation marks with his fingers when he said the words in love.

"So does he know where we are?" Al asked in a serious tone.

Dave nodded his head and answered, "Ohhhh yeah."

"At least things are still going according to plan," I said.

"Well... we might have a slight problem with that," Dave admitted.

"What is it?" Al asked, his golden eyes glaring at Dave.

"Vaxon was right behind me. He'll be here by tomorrow," Dave revealed.

Well, that's not good."Damn it," Al and I said in sync.
