"What happened here?" I asked as we pulled up to my former home. We were outside my parent's medium-sized white house and it looked like it had been through a war zone. Multiple trees around the building had been thrown onto its side, basically in splinters instead of their full trunks. Parts of the grass were black and looked like it had been set on fire.
"I'm going to mind link Lynn," Jerry told us afraid for his younger sister. My uncle's blue eyes glazed over for a second then came back into focus.
"What is it, honey?" Hayley asked her husband.
"Tyler. Apparently, he did all of this," Jerry told us with big eyes.
"Where are my parents?" I asked in a demanding voice.
"In the house," Jerry answered pointing to my childhood home. I unbuckled my seat belt and opened the truck door as fast as I could. I got out and started to make my way towards the house.
"Zylee!" Al called after me, but I continued my march to get to my parents. A hand gently grabbed my bicep and warmth fled into me as the hand stopped me. "Zylee, you can't just march into there. You might be pregnant," Al reminded me in a low voice.
"I can't just not go check on my parents," I told him. The doors to the truck opened and Jerry and Hayley joined us.
"Fine, I'll go in there. You stay here with them until I tell you it's safe," Al replied.
"Fine," I quickly agreed just wanting to be with my parents sooner. Al stared at me, his golden eyes going up and down. He paused and it looked like he was going to say something for a moment. Instead, he nodded and placed a quick kiss on my forehead.
He turned around and went towards the home. "Al!" I yelled to him making him turn around, "be safe." He gave me a small smile then disappeared into the house.
I waited on the dismantled lawn with my aunt and uncle for about five minutes. Each second seemed more like an hour. I shouldn't have let him go in there alone. What if he dies and then I find out I really am pregnant? Our baby won't have a father. I'll be alone. I'll lose my other half.
"Zy, he's going to be okay. He's strong," Hayley reassured me placing her hand on my shoulder. I took in a deep breath and nodded.
'You guys can come in now,' Al mind linked me. I relayed the message to the older couple and I sprinted to the house.
"We're going to make sure our kids are alright! We'll see you later!" Hayley called out to me, and we went our separate ways, but I didn't slow down. I moved the large wooden door and searched the room.
"Al?" I yelled out.
"Kitchen," I heard his voice ring out. I quickly took the path towards the kitchen, and let out a sigh of relief when I saw my mate and parents in perfect health.
I ran into my mate's arms and I squeezed him in a tight hug. "We are never doing that again! If you're going into danger then I'm going too. I was so worried," I lectured him with my face buried in his chest.
"No way. I'm not letting you just throw yourself into danger," Al argued. I pulled away from the hug and scowled at him.
"And I'm not going to let you throw yourself into danger either," I argued my point.
Suddenly there was a loud fake coughing sound and I looked away from my mate. My eyes landed on my parents and I smiled. I ran into Mom's arms and felt slightly sad when she stiffened for a split second. She must be on edge with all the destruction that has happened. I pulled away knowing that I was causing her a bit of discomfort and just smiled at her instead.
"I missed you," I told her. Her blue eyes seemed to brighten at my words and she gave me a smile.
"What about me?" Dad asked me. I turned to him and threw my arms around him.
"Of course, I missed you Dad," I told the man whom I had gotten my green eyes from. I pulled away and just looked at my parents.
Mom was in a tank top and you could see her scars. The large JLC branded into her chest was visible, but I didn't care. I can actually see my parents right now. I'm actually with them.
"So how did Tyler cause all of this?" Al asked them as he placed his hand on the small of my back. Mom flinched at his words and Dad looked at the floor sadly.
"We don't know what happened. He woke up from his coma not able to remember anything, but he was fine. A few days ago he started telling Jessica that he was getting headaches and then he just snapped. He destroyed the front yard here then ran off into the woods. We've been trying to find him since," Dad informed us.
"Whose been running the pack?" I asked.
"Jessica. She doesn't want anyone to know about their alpha going AWOL, so she's been telling everyone that he's away on pack business," Mom told us.
"Well that explains why I wasn't informed about this earlier," Al grumbled frustrated.
"When was the last time you picked up his scent?" I asked Dad ignoring my upset mate.
"This morning, but none of us can approach him if he doesn't want us to," Dad answered.
"I'll go get him," I volunteered automatically.
"What? No!" Al shot back at me.
"Al I'm the only one here that has beaten him in a fight before," I told my mate.
"You weren't pregnant before! Let me handle this," Al pleaded with me.
"Pregnant?" Mom asked in a loud voice. Al and I froze as we realized what just happened. Damn it. We slowly turned to see both of my parents with their arms crossed and glaring at Al.
"Maybe. We don't know for sure," I admitted to them.
"Why would you think you're pregnant?" Dad asked me. Why do I feel like I'm in serious trouble right now? It's not like this is some random guy. This is my mate.
"My healing has slowed," I answered them.
"That doesn't mean you're pregnant just because a few seconds was added to your healing time," Mom told me.
"Mom, I was bleeding from a cut," I replied and my parents gasped.
"Okay, I'll admit that's weird, but that still doesn't mean anything," Dad said.
"We know, that's why we came here. I need to go to the human hospital and get a pregnancy test done," I admitted to them.
"And you needed Tyler to arrange for the samples to be destroyed after," Dad added pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and pointer finger. Al and I both nodded in response.
"I'll mind link Jessica to make the arrangements at the hospital. I don't want you two getting involved in the Tyler situation though. Tyler is dangerous and if you guys really are going to have a baby..." Dad said then drifted off as emotion seemed to crack down on him. Mom put her hand on his arm and he instantly smiled up at her. He put his hand over mom's and his eyes glazed over. As we were waiting Al put his arm over my shoulders like he needed the physical contact to assure himself that I was still there.
'I don't think we can actually leave the Tyler situation alone. Other than Vaxon we're the only ones on the planet strong enough to restrain him,' Al mind linked me.
I unconsciously put my hand over my stomach as I looked into his golden eyes. 'I know,' I replied.
"Okay, Jessica said you can go to the hospital now if you want," Dad declared with his green eyes finally back to normal.
"Thanks, Dad," I told him. He put his arm around Mom and gave me a nod. I turned to Al and he took my hand and we started to leave.
"Zylee?" My mom called out after me. I turned around and looked at the woman who gave me life.
"Be safe. If you're pregnant, then protect that baby with everything you have. That baby will be the most important and amazing thing in your life. You'll understand what I mean when you hold them for the first time," Mom told me.
My heart melted at her words and I nodded. Al and I turned around again and left my childhood home. Time to discover if we're going to have a baby.
