"sooooo?" peggy whined she really was starting to get impatient 

"guys, why do you all suddenly know? i only wanted peggy to know about this" i sigh

"well, we are all sisters so its only natural we all know" eliza smiled softly

"and besides we'd all find out eventually if you ever started courting " angelica stated

"but..thats the thing angelica, we probably wont, even if he did like me back.." i sigh sadly

"wait why?" peggy tilted her head in confusion 

"why who is it?" eliza queastioned

"wait- are they married?!" angelicas eyes widened

"what? no! i would never even consider someone who is married!" i furrowed my brows

"oh..sorry i just thought..nevermind"

"but who is it then?" peggy questioned

"..i wouldnt see how there could be a problem with courtship then.." eliza sighed

"its.." i sigh "its lafayette.." 

"lafayette? why is courtship a problem then? if he likes you back i mean" peggy asked

"..because..he'd probably be moving back to France soon..." i look down

"and? moving to France sounds wonderful" angelica said "especially if you go with someone you like" she smiled

"i agree with angelica, i dont see the problem" eliza smiled softly

"the problem is France doesnt have my family, my friends you guys, your here, i couldnt leave alex or you guys or anyone here..not on an uncertainty, not on a maybe, not with the chance that something could happen to you guys and i wouldnt be here to help i-"  i stopped myself i was going to spiral if i kept talking

"you love us enough to give up your chance at love?" peggy tilted her head

"i understand what you mean" angelica sighed "i'd chose the happiness of my family over mine any day"

"i..i suppose i understand..France is very far and if something happened itd take to long to get here " eliza sighed

"..well since they understand i guess its normal, but if you throw away your shot with lafayette over us you can't throw away your shot with the next suitor, ok? we want you to be happy to" peggy said 

i chuckled "ok ok- but i wouldnt be unhappy with you guys, your my family, and if i find a suitor that is going to stay nearby, i will my chance with him" i smiled

"good!" peggy smiled brightly, we spoke for another few hours then the sun started to set, i decided i should probably change and get ready for my walk with lafayette, after awhile i was in a different dress and i was ready, so i walked over to the leaving room, making sure there was nothing left to clean up when i heard a knock at the door, i walked over, opened the door and saw lafayette there

"oh- y/n, i see your ready to go" laf seemed a bit surprised

"oh yeah i am" i smiled, laf extended his hand, i placed my hand in his and he linked our arms together as we started to walk to the park, talking about this and that, eventually we had been walking in the park for a few minutes 

"this has been a lovely topic but laf, you said you had some medical concerns, can we talk about those now?" i asked, i was really concerned about him

"oh uhm, about that i-....i dont really have any health concerns i just wanted to get you alone for awhile..." laf blushed softly

"what?.." i stopped walking and looked at him 

"uhm- i do want to talk with you about something important its just- i thought the only way i could get you alone was to say something about my health- i..im sorry" laf looked away from me

"hey...its ok..what do you want to talk about?.." i gently placed my hand on his cheek, he looked at me, holding my hand to his cheek

"i..y/n" he smiled at me "since that night at the winters ball, i've had very strong feelings for you, i- i dont know if you could tell by the way i was acting around you, i really like you" his soft blush grew a little deeper, my face went red

"y-you do? " i looked up at him, he nodded

"oui, i do" laf smiled

"i-..i like you too laf.." i felt him let go of my hand that was on his cheek

"you do?" he questioned, sounding surprised

"yeah" i nod slowly, i felt his arms wrap around my waist and pull me close to him, lifting me up slightly and spinning me around, he looked so happy, i giggled softly, wrapping my arms around his neck, he soon stopped, setting me back on the ground,

"im so glad you feel the same way..i was so worried you liked john" laf smiled softly as he looked at me

i laughed a bit "john? john is like a brother to me" i shook my head a little as i looked up at him

"im glad.." laf smiled, leaning in close to me, i got a little nervous and quickly brought up something that had been on my mind for a little bit

"so, what are these things you need to know before you make your plans? " i asked, creating space between us

"hm? oh, uhm about that, i suppose there are a few questions i need to ask you..depending on how you answer the first one i have"  laf looked down at me, he looked nervous

"what is it?..." i queationed

"would you...come to France with me?.." laf asked nervously 

i looked down, i was afraid of this question "i..no.  i wont" i said simply as i looked up at him "i cant, everything is here laf, my family, my friends, school, possible work i- i cant drop everything and leave"

"i-..i dont want to leave either but i have to..i am needed in France, i just, i dont want to leave you.." laf frowned "you can go to school in france, there are great medical schools there, im sure you'd be able to go- i can teach you french on the ship ride there if you need me to i-" i quickly interrupted him 

"lafayette. no, im not dropping everything in my life and sealing across the sea again..i..i cant.." i sighed

"we can visit a lot, please, we can visit as much as humanly possible please just..just come with me...i want you by my side..." lafayettes eyes started to become slightly bloodshot

"..im sorry lafayette but no, my answer is no and it will always be no" i looked away from him, he gently placed his hand under my chin and made me look at him

"please..give me a few days to convince you otherwise..just a few days..even if you still say no..i will not regret the next few days being spent with you" lafs voice was soft and calm but also a little desperate, i slowly nodded

"ok..a few days..but im telling you my answer wont change.." i told him, he nodded, smiling softly he linked our arms again and walked me home
