I parked my car infront of Dev's house. I can hear the loud music coming from the inside and I shook my head. Bakit hindi na lang kami nag bar kung ganito din lang diba? I asked myself and right then and there I remember na ayaw pala ni Will mag bar si Dev. Okay, the overprotective guy's moves.
I went inside and I saw our friends dancing and chattering and laughing. Some were seated in the mini bar area, drinking.
I spotted Dev and she ran to me.
"Heyyyy!" she hugged me tight as if she havent touched and seen me for a hundred years.
"Happy birthday, birthday girl!!" and then I handed her over something.
"An envelope," she guessed. "Magalona, are you giving me money? Such insult!" she acted as if she's really mad.
"Tssss. what made you think about that, silly! Open it later," I smiled.
"Hey, my maaaan!" there's Will!
"Hey! Happy birthday to your wife," i laughed as we gave each other a light hug.
"Hows my bestfriend?" he asked.
"Been... Good! Hows everyone here?" i looked around and seems everybody was having fun.
"Everyone's enjoying. There is Julie," He pointed at the oversized sofa but Julie wasnt there.
"Baby, asan na si Julie?" Will asked Dev. She worriedly look around and spotted Julie at the mini bar. She took the shot glass as she drink..... I cant even recognize what she was drinking.
"Dev," i said as we worriedly looked at each other.
"Tara," i walked behind her as we made our way to Julie's.
"Jules, bestie," Dev held Julie's back.
"Bestie! Happy birthday to youuuu! Happy birthday to you...!!" she sang happy birthday. Out of tune.
"Thank you so much, bestie!" Dev hugged her.
"Bakit mag isa mo lang dito? You were with Jake kanina," sabi ni Dev habang unti unti niyang nilalayo yung shot glass ni Julie.
"Oh Jake. May emergency daw. Who cares?!" Julie let out a little laugh.
"Moe, she's drunk already," Dev whispered.
"I'll drive her home now," i whispered back and Dev nodded.
Julie was toying another glass on her hand when I stepped closer and said, "We need to go home now."
She looked at me and immediately answered, "Ayoko! May hinihintay ako!"
"Julie, I'll give Jake a call to inform him na im driving you home now. Tara na," pagpipilit ko.
"Im not waiting for Jake. Why would I wait for him? Kakaalis nga lang diba?" napatawa siyang sagot.
"Julie, look at me," I held her face at nagulat ako ng maramdaman kong ang init init ng mukha niya.
"Are you sick?" I asked.
"Hindi. Masakit lang yung ulo ko," she smiled.
"Dev, iuuwi ko na siya," i told Dev and she nodded.
Without thinking, i carried her to my car. For the first time, she didnt argue or react. She rest her head on the windshield and closed her eyes. I clicked her seatbelt on and started the engine.
"Whered you go?
I miss you so.
Seems like its been forever since you've been gone.
Please come back home,"
She started singing this line over and over until we reached our house. I carried her upstairs to our room and lay her gently on the bed.
I stared at her and she slowly open her eyes.
"Where have you been?" She suddenly asked.
"Julie," I started.
"Whered you go? I miss you so. Seems like its been forever since you've been gone. Please come back home," she sang again.
"Julie, rest. I'll be here," I whispered but she shook her head. She's never gonna let this go.
"Where'd you go?"
"I'm gonna tell you the whole story when you wake up. But right now, you have to rest and sleep. Youre sick," i scolded her a bit and i heard her sigh.
When i thought she'd fallen to sleep, i went to the bathroom to get a basin and water and wiped her face. I miss this moment. Me taking care of her.
I stayed up the whole night, with her arms wrapped around me, thinking of what i am gonna tell her the next morning. I have tons of questions in mind. And tomorrow can wait.
