Epilogue

I smiled while looking into the view of the rice fields, pinadaan ko ulit sa kamay ko ang bawat halaman na madaanan ko. The kids were no longer there but the memories I have is still here. I looked at the empty road, I wish I could see you here again.

I smiled before I walk into the room packed with little children.

"Hi po Doctora!" Sabay-sabay nilang bati kaya matamis ko naman silang nginitian.

"Tatapusin na ba natin ang kwentong ikwinento niyo kahapon?" Tanong ni May Ann, isa sa mga bibong bata na nagpatanggal ng ngipin niya kahapon.

After we finished giving them free dental service I got along with them and I told them the story of how Davin and I met but...in different circumstances, where he and I lived happily ever after.

"Hindi ba natapos na natin yun?" Tanong ko sa kanila.

"May kwento ka pa po ba?"

"Magkuwento ka po ulit!"

"Paano po kung hindi sila nagkatuluyan?"

Natigilan ako dahil sa isang batang nagtanong non. She's a girl, siya lang ang hindi umiyak kahapon ng manunutan ng ngipin at siya din ang pinakatahimik na nakikinig ng nagkwento ako kahapon.

"Ano ba naman yan Eris, dapat hindi ganiyan! Mabuti nga yun at nagkatuluyan sila." Sabat naman ni Gail.

Oo nga, alam mo na para kasi yung fairytale kagaya nina Cinderella, Aurora, at Belle. Manuod ka kasi ng fairytale," sabat naman ni May Ann.

Eris looked at them confusedly and then she looked at me.

"Hindi po ako naniniwala sa inyo, is that really the original version of the story?" She asked kaya nagulat naman ako.

Natahimik ang lahat ng mga bata pati na din ako.

"Oo naman," sagot ko.

"Pero hindi po yan ang kwentong gusto kong marinig," she said so I stared at her. There's something with this child that I can't understand.

Bumuntong-hininga nilang ako kinalaunan. "So you want to know?" I asked them at nagsitanguan naman sila.

I sighed before I narrated them everything that had happened. May ilan pang mga batang umiyak dahil hindi nila nagustuhan ang kwento at ang iba naman ay parang wala lang.

Pinunasan ko ang mukha ni May Ann dahil patuloy pa din siya sa pag-iyak pero nong kunin na siya ng nanay niya ay paunti-unti na itong tumahan.

I can't help but to recall the famous song of Katy Perry entitle "the one that got away" parang ganoon kasi ang nangyari sa amin ni Davin, it end tragically but it is a good song to listen to, para siyang kwento na babalik-balikan mo.

After I bid goodbye at them Eris hugged me, I stood there confusedly on the way she acted but she's pulling my dress so I looked at her and leaned close to her.

"What do you want to tell me?"

"He says he love you..." she whispered at me.

I smiled at her before I nodded my head.

"Tell him I love him too." I said before I walk away, I waved my hand at her but she just stood there looking at me strangely.

Ito pala talaga ang buhay no, people come and people go. We can't stop it because it is the cycle of a man but when we love someone our feelings won't just go away especially if we are madly in love with that person.

Life has given me a lot of challenges to face, sometimes I break down, sometimes I feel like I can't do it so I give up pero hindi pala ganoon ang buhay.

It's a matter of fighting back in the challenges the world has offered to all of us and if we don't then there are only two things we'll all end up, it is either you'll end up regretting everything or you'll end up blaming yourself.

I didn't give up even though life made me suffer a lot. In the first years without Davin I suffered a lot, I locked myself away with everyone, I cried until I can't anymore, I tried to kill myself but I think God has plans for me that's why I'm still here, alive and kicking.

"Sinabi ko na sayo na pumunta ka eh!"

I smiled at Myca when she told that to me a week before Tita Amanda invited all of us to their house for Christmas.

Pagdating ko sa bahay nila I saw Myca together with them preparing for everything. Nginitian naman ako ni Tita Amanda ng makita niya ako saka ko siya nilapitan para yakapin.

Nag-usap din sila ng mabilis ni Mommy tungkol sa mga tanim na kinahihiligan nila ngayon tsaka sila umupo sa hapag.

I roamed my eyes all over the place, puno ng mga Christmas decoration ang buong bahay at hindi ko maiwasang mamangha, the second Christmas I have been in this house. The first is when Davin reconciled with his Mom at ito ngayon.

The Christmas decoration didn't get my attention but the portrait of a man sitting in his motorcycle while looking at his left caught my attention, hindi ito nakatingin sa camera at ang kamay niya'y may hawak na helmet.

Namuo ang mga luha sa aking mga mata habang nakatingin sa litratong yun.

Tita Amanda tapped my shoulders and smiled. I wiped the tears that rolled down my cheeks before I pursed a smile. After we finished eating all of us waited for the most awaited part of the Christmas, the fireworks display.

Palaging may ganito kina Tita and it always amazed me to see flickering lights in the night.

Umupo sa tabi ko si Robert so I put my arms around him. He's a big boy now.

I leaned close to him while he's holding his gifts.

"Did we really caught some snakes Ninang?" Tanong niya.

"Five!"

I looked at him because of that. The counting goes on. "Yeah you did."

"Four!"

"Really?" Hindi makapaniwala niyang tanong.

"Three!"

"Yes, you are so excited..."

"Two!"

"I miss him..."

"One!"

"I miss him too..."

He is truly the one that got away. I now realize that maybe were not really meant to be in this lifetime, maybe we can be together on our next life and I can't wait to meet him there.

I wish I could still spend time with you, if we'll meet in another life, find me in where our hearts became one. Make promise with me again in the cave of hearts or where your hearts desire. Let's make memories together again, let's talk again under the thousand stars in the nigh sky.

Davinson Lucress, maybe you're reading this now, I want you to know that no matter what happen, you'll always be here in my heart.
