Donovan

"Can you give us some privacy?" I asked him.

He looked at Aleena for her response. I didn't like dat. He went by what she said and ignored me. She nodded sittin' up.

"Toni, pass me those jeans on the back of your chair before you go?" He did as she asked and passed by me like I wasn't even dere.

I stepped up to her slowly leaned down and hugged her. She didn't hug me back.

"Before you even start look at this." She pulled a piece of paper from da pocket of the jeans and gave it to me.

I unfolded it. It was the DNA test dat I had so cruelly demanded.

"Your baby. And you don't even give a damn."

"Yes I do."

"No you don't."

"I was gon call you. I wanted to be dere. I'm sorry."

"Yeah. Tell that to the bruises on my back."

"You know I didn't mean to do dat."

"I don't know anything about you anymore. And I'm tired of trying to figure it out."

"Not yet, okay?"

"What do you mean not yet?"

"Don't...don't give up on me just yet."

"Why shouldn't I? It's obvious that you aren't even trying."

"I'm sorry. I have plans for us."

She shook her head. "Plans for us?"

"Leena please-"

"No. I'm not doing this anymore." She got out of da bed.

"What are you doing? Da doctor said you should stay in bed."

"Don't worry about me."

I reached into my pocket walkin' around her to her. My hands began to shake.

She frowned. "What's wrong with you?"

I took a deep breath. "Listen-"

"Donovan?"

"Listen to me. I know we have a lot to work out but-"

"Work out with what?"

"Will you listen to me please?"

She sighed.

"Okay...I know dis is hard for you but dis takes time. And I just wanna be wit you. It's just dat sometimes I can see you wit other guys somehow and it hurts and I just get angry."

"And you take it out on me."

"I know and I'm so sorry. Just..." I took da ring from my pocket.

When she saw da ring she closed her eyes. I knew it was hard for her. She wanted to deny me but at da same time I knew she still loved me.

"I-"

"Don't say no."

"I can't say yes."

"So you'll tink about it?" I urged.

She sighed. "I'll think about it."

I slipped da ring on her finger. She just looked at me.
