Aleena & Donovan
"Who is it?" Aleena asked walking to the door opening it without waiting to hear the answer. "Hello?"
Her breath was cut short when her eyes landed on Donovan's face. She had almost forgotten about his ocean blue eyes.
"What-what are you doing here?"
"I came to see you," He said looking down at her belly and then at the ring on her finger. "You married him?"
"Yeah."
He nodded. "I just...I just wanted you to know dat I graduated my counseling class." He said showing her his certificate. "I still go. Just for me. I just wanted to show you I could change. I can be a better man and I tink I am. What do you tink?" He asked looking for her approval.
"I think you've done well for yourself."
He smiled. "Tanks. Dat means a lot to me."
"Baby who's at the door?" Antonio asked coming up behind her. He frowned when he saw Donovan. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to talk to Leena."
"Toni give us a minute okay?"
Donovan watched him walk away. "Do you still have the ring?"
"Yes."
He slowly reached forward and placed his hand on her swollen belly. "How far along?"
"Almost eight months."
"You look like you're about to pop. How long have you been married?"
"Five months."
He stepped forward still touching her belly. "Leena I still tink about you." He looked up at her. "Do you tink about me?"
"Sometimes."
"Probably not da same way I tink about you." He stopped touching her belly. "I still love you. You know dat? I don't tink it's ever gon go away. You'll never know how sorry I am for how tings turned out between us. I wanted dat baby. I was just confused. But no matter what, I still loved you." He paused. "Do you forgive me for what I did to you?" He waited for her response. "I need you to forgive me."
"I do. I forgave you a long time ago."
He kissed her lips softly and she didn't flinch. He kissed her again and stepped back. "Now I can move on. But I don't tink you'll ever leave my heart completely. I'll never forget. Tell me you won't forget about me."
"Not if I tried."
He hugged her tight and kissed her for the last time. "Goodbye Aleena."
She watched as he walked to his car and drove off. Antonio walked up next to her.
"Are you okay?"
She nodded. "I am now." He finally told me he loves me.
